The Haven Night Shelter Organisation, a non – governmental organisation working to help the homeless back to a home, family and community. The Haven Night Shelter Organisation’s method is to make temporary shelter, rehabilitation opportunities, social welfare services, family reunification services, physical care and support available to adult people living on the streets who are committed to reintegration.

Job Title: Nurse
Location: Haven Old Age Home at Woodstock, Cape Town.
Reports to: Registered Nurse.
Remuneration: R12 500.00
Employment type: Permanent

Required:

• Matric/ Enrolled Nurse and SANC registered.
• Compliance with SANC code for Enrolled Nurses.
• 2 Years’ experience as an Enrolled Nurse and at least 1 year experience in Geriatric Nursing.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that prescribed medication is administered correctly and timorously and within the guidelines of the Nursing Scope of Practice
• Ensure that Home Carers perform their duties in accordance with policies and duties and their individual contracts of employment.
• Ensure all recordkeeping and documentation is maintained.
• Handling of residence complaints in the correct manner.
• Promote personal hygiene of all residents who is dependent on daily care.
• Manage and coordinate residents who attends Doctor‘s appointment.
• Effective communication with patient/resident about their care.
• Assess and ensure emergency services assistance if necessary.
• Ensures that the catering department is aware of all special dietary requirements and supervises the serving of all meals on the shifts to ensure compliance with these.
• Mentoring of learners on internships and learnerships.
• Attributes and skills:
  • Well-spoken and neat presentation.
  • Must be able to communicate well with elderly.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work under pressure and as a team.
