Job Title: Fundraiser and Public Relations Coordinator
Job Location: Stellenbosch
Report to: The Executive Director
The purpose of the position is proposal-based fundraising driven by a fundraising strategy, managing existing relationships and building new ones and managing all aspects of PR including social media.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Executive Director and Board members in implementing the current fundraising and PR strategies and developing future sustainability strategies
- Reach and exceed an annual fundraising target
- Agree on a monthly project plan, submit monthly reports and attend relevant meetings
- Undertake comprehensive research routinely for lead generation, to establish potential for funding support and identify best practice
- Identify and facilitate strategic, collaborative partnerships resulting in large, long-term funding agreements
- Build and maintain major funding relationships, while identifying and establishing new ones
- Explore and develop various technology and trend-based fundraising platforms
- Drive and manage all PR and communications platforms such as the website, newsletters, media, social media, materials and brand
- Identify and attend networking and profile raising opportunities
- Manage all related administration, scheduling and tracking
Requirements:
- A formal tertiary qualification in a relevant area of study
- Minimum of five years’ relevant experience
- Communication ability, both spoken and written
- Experience/track-record in fundraising
- Experience in sales and/or PR and communications
- An existing network of business/personal contacts
- Be a natural networker and able to build relationships
- A passion for the Academy’s work and values, as well as those of the NPO world
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, including research skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently to agreed deliverables
- Ability to work in a fluid and flexible context with a small dedicated team
- Personal relationships and an ability to bridge and connect communities
- Fluency in English and either IsiXhosa or Afrikaans
- South African citizenship
- Valid driver’s license and own transport
