Vacancy Details

Purpose of the Role

• Lead the Forensics team, providing strategic guidance on how to best support the business, keep our employees and customers safe
• Apply a proactive, risk-based approach to the identification, investigation and management of flags across the Forensic department
• Coordinate specific processes to support the implementation and execution of forensic investigations
• Investigate and action (where applicable) any perpetrations
• Educate the business on the correct policies and procedures to mitigate fraud risk
• Protect the business against any fraudulent activity posed across all channels including claims (management of external forensic service providers)
• Responsible for all quality and forensic related investigations that may pose a business risk and provide accurate feedback to the relevant department

Key Responsibilities / Key Performance Areas

• Lead Forensic Investigator
• Track trends to identify perpetrations and implement mitigation plans
• To track, trend and report on all investigations
• Drive solutions on issues uncovered
• Investigate all irregularities relating to fraud / criminality reported in the business (eg. fraudulent claims, fraudulent sales, misuse of company property etc.)
• Pro-actively monitor reports across the business to identify possible trends and / or fraudulent activities (eg. refunds report, Telesales capture report, abused calls report, activity logger, duplication report, send backs, call backs and claims trends)
• Liaise with all appropriate role players regarding all investigations (eg. SAPS, external investigators)
• Responsible for providing weekly / monthly reports on statuses and current workflow of all ongoing investigations – Including filling of all evidence where required
• Pro-actively assist all business departments by informing, investigating, and monitoring areas of the business that may be most at risk to fraud and / or abuse of company property where the business stands to lose eg. Expense claims monitoring, addressing teams with appropriate information and or around risk / security, advise Administrators on POPI etc.)
• Responsible for ADHOC tasks to be dealt with within the department (eg. operations and maintenance of security systems within the business, requirements by Head of Forensics – statements, collections of documents etc.)
• Ensure that criminal charges are laid whenever a crime has been perpetrated within or against The Unlimited
• Representing The Unlimited in criminal matters

Knowledge and Experience:

• Degree / Diploma in Forensic Investigation, Internal Audit, Chartered Accountant
• 7-8 years relevant forensic experience of which, 5 years should be at a management level within a corporate environment
• Experience within the life insurance industry, including claims fraud investigations (an advantage)
• Experience with forensic data analysis (using structured data)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
