3M is seeking a Key Accounts Manager for the Industrila Business Group located in Kwazulu Natal

The position of Key Accounts Manager is located in Durban and will be responsible for but not limited to the following specific duties:

1. Sales and Marketing
– Achieve the sales targets (both revenue and volume) and growth targets at the key customers
– Achieve the profitability targets at the key customers, includes managing pricing, discounts, rebates etc.
– Implement new product introductions at the key customers, this includes developing a thorough product knowledge and the ability to demonstrate and train key customers
– Responsible for monthly sales forecasting, monthly supply/demand forecasting and inventory management for key customers

2. Establishment and Achievement of Key Customer targets and objectives
– Prepare and implement key customer sales plans, aligned with the overall business strategy, in order to achieve the business targets
– Contributes to the establishment of the overall divisional business plan and targets, recommending adjustments and improvements

3. Customer Relationship
– Position 3M as the preferred supplier at the key customers
– Build and maintain a relationship with the key customers, across all levels of management, this includes managing the broader 3M activities and interface with the key customers
– Manage the interface between Key Account and key customers and the 3M Technical Manager for problem solving, new product introductions, quality issues, training etc.

4. Industry, Market and Competitor analysis
– Continually analyse and monitor the industry, market and key customers for trends and events which may either impact future sales or yield growth opportunities
– Continually analyse and monitor competitor activity at the customers and identify opportunities and threats
– Implement the necessary actions and initiatives to counter threats and develop growth opportunities at key customers

5. 3M Solution Selling
– Implement the 3M entitlement process at the key customers
– Indentify broader 3M growth opportunities at key customers and implement actions to take advantage of these opportunities

6. Coordination, Planning, Administration and Development
– Identify, direct and deliver appropriate sales & marketing support to relevant distributors in order to achieve business targets at the key customers
– Plan, coordinate and manage the relevant resources and technical support required at the key customers

Proactively communicate all relevant customer information and business prospects with relevant supervisors, including sales plans, sales records, action plans and supporting materials/tools

Technical value selling / problem solving in a highly competitive commodity environment, where majority of competitors are fighting on price.

– Excellent interpersonal skills at a professional level, requires customer interaction across the entire management spectrum from workshop floor to CEO
– Ability to work independently within minimal supervision – self motivated
– Flexibility in outlook and time keeping

 

Education
– Matric
– National diploma in technical subject would be an advantage

 

Experience
– 5-10 years sales experience
– Key account management experience would be an advantage

 

Knowledge
– Computer skills (Word, Exel, Powerpoint), Lotus Notes,

 

Key Capabilities
– Problem solver, persistent, passion for sales, People’s person, analytical,
