Transnet Group Services has Graduate-in-Training opportunity within the Demand Planning department in Johannesburg. The position primarily offers demand planning support, as part of the demand planning team and under the guidance the line manager, to a variety of internal and external customers including;
Port, Rail and Pipeline capacity development teams;
Corporate Centre functions and Operating Divisions;
Project Development Teams (for FEL 1 to 3 projects);
Shareholder and Governmental Departments (for queries and requests for information including SIPs / PICC); and Local and provincial governments (for support to Transnet bilateral planning engagements).
The position is responsible for using a variety of demand planning tools including to:
Process queries and generate reports as required by his/her manager;
Assist in the annual update of the TTM with FDM data;
Assist in checking and testing of input data and ensure that the TTM is updated at all times;
Prepare demand-related presentations and reports as needed
Position outputs:
The position is required to provide assistance, support, etc. under the guidance of the Demand Planning Manager including: Demand reports used as input for the annual updating of the LTPF;
Long-term demand targets for budget updates and corporate plan;
Inputs to EXCO, Board and DPE briefing documents and background analysis;
Project-specific demand forecasts for FEL 1 – 3 projects;
Written responses and position papers to ad-hoc queries from various external sources;
Maintaining accurate Transnet Transportation Model source data;
Inputs to the Demand Chapter in the LTPF;
Inputs to the Demand Book publication bi-annually; and
Arrangements and organisation of demand planning workshops.
Qualifications & Experience:
B-degree in Science, Computer Science or Logistics is required
Competencies:
Logistics and Supply Chains (basic);
Data manipulation and integrity management (basic); Statistics, data analysis and informatics (basic); SQL, Excel, Access (basic)
