Transnet has a Graduate-in-Training within the Ports & Pipeline unit in Johannesburg. The purpose of position is to provide support to the Port and Pipeline planning functions of Long Term Planning Framework (LTPF) by providing engineering services relating to Port and Pipeline infrastructure planning functions in order to create capacity ahead of demand. The position provides assistance to the Senior Specialists responsible for the Port and Pipeline related Front End research, Capacity Planning, Conceptual and Feasibility studies.

 

Position outputs:

Carry out comprehensive analysis and understanding of the installed capacity available in the port and pipeline facilities

Conduct capacity utilisation analysis to understand when and where new capacity will be required in future

Identify capacity constraints in terms of port and pipeline infrastructure

Conduct research and planning studies including the early selection, planning, and project feasibility development. Ensuring that all project information is accurately kept up to date for effective project review.

Identify project development fatal flaws by analysing engineering hydrological, coastal, geotechnical, topographical, structural, civil, waterside and landside infrastructure and equipment.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

A BSc degree in Engineering

 

Competencies:

Knowledge of rail logistics, infrastructure and operations planning Knowledge of rail infrastructure life-cycle management Knowledge of Project Management principles and controls.
