We are now opening the opportunity for students of travel and tourism to intern with us. This internship program will be project based as the successful candidates will be tasked with the responsibility to perform in-depth research on both the popular and less traveled corners of the world, document their findings and digitally publish the information.

Job Summary and Duties

As per the internship task assignments. each intern will be allocated a dedicated region for which they will be expected to establish communication with all relevant travel, tour, cruise, accommodation and car hire / transportation establishments available in order to advise prospective travellers, but also identify and target prospective suppliers and negotiate the possibility of direct referral partnerships.

As an intern, you will be largely responsible for the compiling and submission of comparative travel quotations based on ongoing destination and supplier research, as well as assisting both senior and junior travel consultants with day to day administrative tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for researching the allocated destinations, identify supplier information and document findings to be published:
  • Full destination / country tourist information and travel requirements.
  • All types of accommodations available, facilities offered, pricing and forms of booking.
  • All tours / cruises / safaris and packages available, pricing and forms of booking.
  • All car hire facilities, packages available, pricing and forms of booking.
  • All attractions available in and around specified destinations, pricing and forms of booking.
  • To publish all documented destination and travel information / packages on both website and social media.
  • To also publish all submitted quotations on both website and social media platforms.
  • To assist senior and junior travel contacts with the following tasks:
  • To assist with comparative quotations upon request.
  • To assist with the booking of flights / packages upon request.
  • To assist consultants with client follow ups, feedback management, compiling of documentation, filing and reporting.
  • To be responsible for promotional marketing and referral advertising:
  • To manage email marketing campaigns, including the creation and addition of prospective client databases.
  • To manage all email marketing feedback, including client responses and quotation requests. To report on campaign success and ROI.
  • To manage the setup, supervision and all client interaction during the travel expo held every Saturday. (Promotional Marketing).

Requirements for Position
This position is only open to female applicants that are South-African citizens. No practical work experience is required, however all applicants must either have completed a relevant diploma / degree in travel and tourism, or be in their final year of study.

  • · Knowledge of ticket issuing and industry rules and regulations.
  • · Knowledge of the leisure & commercial travel and cruise industries.
  • · Knowledge of Amadeus or Galileo selling platform.
  • · Novice understanding of South-African travel requirements, and knowledge of popular tourist destinations.
  • · Able to communicate effectively, written and spoken English and comfortable dealing with clients.
  • · Attention to detail and the ability to retain information is crucial.
  • · Excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to customer service excellence.
  • · Display initiative, accuracy and ability to prioritise workload.
  • · Able to apply basic computer literacy skills specific to MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Normal Working Hours 

We require a minimum of 20 working hours (Monday – Friday) to be completed in office focused on the tasks described above. However, interns are welcome to spend as much time as they have available within our offices in completing these tasks. In addition to the hours spent between Monday and Friday focused on administrative duties, interns will also be expected to assist travel consultants on Saturdays with the setup and management of a travel expo (promotional marketing and display).
