The U.S. Consulate in Cape Town is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for a position of Supervisory Information Management Specialist in the Information Resource Management office.

 

 

 

Job Title: Supervisory Information Management Specialist
Location: Cape Town

Job Summary:
The Supervisory Computer Management Specialist directs the support of all unclassified computer systems under operation at the U.S. Consulate General Cape Town for the Department of State and other agencies. The position provides advice and guidance to post on policies governing computer configuration, procurement, installation, maintenance of hardware and software, and the use of software packages and “eTechnology”. Reports to the Information Systems Officer (ISO) and supervises two Locally Employed (LE) Staff Computer Management Assistants.

Required Qualifications:
Education:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology is required.

Work Experience:

Five years of direct hands-on experience in network administration in a multi-server and multi-site environment to include writing logon scripts, managing MS Exchange Server, Designing and implementing SharePoint sites, drafting network diagrams and documentation, design, and implementing IT projects. Must have six months supervisory experience.

Language :

Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required.

Job Knowledge:

Position must have knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of computer and network equipment installed at post and working knowledge of applicable networking systems and methods, telecommunications, and operations.

Skills and Abilities:

The job holder must be able to organize, support and maintain items such as: DHCP scopes, IPs & subnets, switch and server requirements, and network designs; maintain SharePoint servers and content; backup and restore data and network equipment; properly document configurations, records and other job-related tasks; and deploy new hardware to a large organization in a timely manner, utilizing a variety of tools and methods.
