Job Title: Occupational Therapist
Job Location: Cape Town
Start date: 1 August 2018

This is a full-time five months’ position of maternity leave, with the possibility of the position becoming permanent.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily OT sessions with individual clients
  • OT group sessions
  • Record keeping and writing of client notes
  • Referral of clients to external service providers when necessary
  • Conduct interviews for the vocational rehabilitation programme
  • Assist the Head of Rehab with program development

Requirements:

  • Qualified Occupational Therapist, registered with the HPCSA
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Internet and Email) essential
  • Driver’s license (essential)
  • Proven leadership and people management abilities
  • Proven experience and skills in planning for, organising and managing all aspects of a rehab programme
  • Well-developed analysing and decision-making skills
  • Communication skills both written and non-written
  • Ability to work in one on one and group settings with clients and staff
  • Time management and prioritisation skills and able to instruct others in such skills
  • A problem solver who is open to change and innovation
  • A confident decision maker and self-starter, able to take initiative
  • A people motivator and patient coach who will delegate easily and follow-up effectively
  • Ability to work accurately at a reasonably fast pace, under pressure
  • Willing to learn and grow with the job
  • An enthusiastic person who is devoted to South Africa and wants to use his or her clinical skills and experience to make a meaningful difference in South Africa
  • Understanding of Occupational Therapy theory, especially pertaining to vocational rehabilitation and psychiatry (essential)
  • Understanding of developmental intervention (essential)
  • Understanding the Model of Creative Ability (not essential)
  • Understanding of DBT (not essential)
