The University of Namibia is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the vacant Professor/Associate Professor – Water Resources Engineering position, Department of Civil and Mining Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, Engineering and Natural Sciences, School of Engineering and the Built Environment, JEDS Campus.

Job Summary:
Teaching courses in the whole field of Hydro-Engineering at both undergraduate and postgraduate level (MSc Civil Engineering and MSc Water Resources Management degrees);
Supervise and mentor postgraduate students and be involved in department, university, and professional service;
Develop and maintain an internationally recognized, cross-disciplinary research program, and to be able to contribute to current running activities in the department and the university;
Establish a strongly externally-funded research programs that complements existing departmental strengths.

Requirements:
PhD and background expertise relevant to Civil and Environmental Engineering specifically in the area of Water Resources Engineering including Urban Water Systems (Water Supply & Urban Drainage), Infrastructure Planning, Wastewater Treatment & Solid Waste Management.
A commitment to excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate education in the above mentioned areas of Water Resources Engineering.
Successful postgraduate supervision or extensive mentorship in an industrial or research environment.
A strong record of research as evidenced by publications in accredited journals and peer reviewed conference proceedings.
A proven record of sourcing research funding.
An interest in multidisciplinary research and practical experience in industry and/or consulting is desirable.
Excellent communication skills and be a registered professional engineer or have the ability to become registered with the Engineering Council of Namibia.
