Women and Law in Southern Africa Research and Education Trust – Lesotho (WLSA) is a signatory to landmark agreements with The Lesotho Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Independent Democratic Union of Lesotho (IDUL), United Textile Employees (UNITE) The National Clothing Textile and Allied Workers Union (NACTWU), Nien Hsing, Levis Strauss & Co., The Children’s Place and Kontoor Brands to establish a program to eradicate gender-based violence and harassment in the workplace, which includes education and awareness training, and establishes and independent organization (Workers’ Rights Watch- WRC) to monitor and receive complaints from workers Nien Hsing.

As a part of this program, WLSA will lead gender based violence and harassment (GBVH) and the new Code of Conduct training workshops for Nieng Hsing Management- that is supervisors and managers as well as its employees in collaboration with IDUL, UNITE & NACTWU. WLSA)-Lesotho is a local NGO registered in 2000 under the Lesotho Society Act, 1967 as part of WLSA regional operating in Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe and Lesotho pursuing women’s human rights in a legal context.

Its mission is to contribute to the socio-economic political and legal advancement of women and children in Lesotho. Since 1989, WLSA has been the anchor and lead organisation in Lesotho on issues of women’s rights, strategic litigation on women’s rights, empowerment of women and gender equality and has also played a key role in mentoring and providing backstopping for other women’s groups in the country as well as government departments.

 

 

 

Job Title: Lead Trainer
Location: Maseru, Lesotho
Employment period:
 2 Years

Qualifications & Experience:

A Master’s Degree in the social sciences with minimum of 5 years’ experience; 2 of which must be in the field of civil society organisations or related field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Sesotho;
  • Highly disciplined with demonstrated focus on results;
  • Leadership and Management Skills;
  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among other implementing partners;
  • Capable of contributing innovative ideas and use constructive criticism where necessary as a team player
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of individuals from different races and backgrounds
  • Experience in conducting training, advocacy on gender based violence and harassment (GBVH), and related issues;
  • Good report writing and project management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead facilitator in all GBVH and Code of Conduct trainings for supervisors and managers of Nieng Hsing Factories;
  • Supervises and monitors WLSA Facilitators working with IDUL, UNITE & NACTWU facilitators on GBVH and the new Code of Conduct for workers at Nien Hsing Factories in Lesotho;
  • Edits reports submitted by WLSA Facilitators working under this GBH Program;
  • Liaises with Project Coordinators/Managers from other implementing partners under this Program
  • Reports directly to the WLSA Executive Director
  • Undertakes any other duties assigned by WLSA Executive Director or an Officer working on her behalf
