Global Development and Strategic Initiatives (“GDSI) supports Power Generation’s profitable growth initiatives by implementing creative business deals. Specifically, this GROUP will support both project development efforts and strategic initiatives. Development will include partnering initiatives as well as internally focused efforts. Strategic initiatives include development support of key NPI efforts, strategic projects and economic evaluations.<\/p>\n

The GDSI organization is lead by the GM GDSI based in Schenectady, NY in the United States. The GDSI organization is structured by poles and segments<\/p>\n

Role Summary\/Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n

Project Development Manager, Global Development & Strategic Initiatives (GDSI), Sub-Sahara Africa Region.This position supports all Power Generation segments (thermal, wind, Jenbacher, etc.). Segment focus will be reflective of its growth potential or margin potential.<\/p>\n

The position is based in Johannesburg South Africa, (or any African Country where GE has a presence and where it will make sense), reporting to the Africa GDSI Pole Leader, who is based in Johannesburg<\/p>\n

Essential Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

Global Development and Strategic Initiatives (“GDSI) supports Power Generation’s profitable growth initiatives by implementing creative business deals.<\/p>\n

Specifically, this role will support both project development efforts and strategic initiatives.<\/p>\n

-Development will include partnering initiatives as well as internally focused efforts.<\/p>\n

-Strategic initiatives include development support of key NPI efforts, strategic projects and economic evaluations.<\/p>\n

This Project Development Manager role will lead these specific activities as part of the Sub-Sahara Africa region.<\/p>\n

Lead deal investigations for designated power generation opportunities, maximizing services and product pull-through, development revenue and customer satisfaction, increase sales.<\/p>\n

Lead negotiations with prospective partners and maintain direct responsibility<\/p>\n

Screen new projects for potential GDSI investment and \/or support<\/p>\n

Coordinate with other GE stakeholders including legal and EHS to ensure team buy-in<\/p>\n

Ensure coordination of all deals w\/ risk review “D” process and stakeholders<\/p>\n

Negotiate and monitor joint development agreements and land acquisition agreements, maintaining direct responsibility<\/p>\n

Perform financial proforma evaluations of deals<\/p>\n

Communicate effectively with other PDMs for transfer of project development rights for future commitments to GE equipment customers.<\/p>\n

Lead contract negotiations with third parties, where required<\/p>\n

Coordination of billing, payments and financial reporting with GE finance team.<\/p>\n

Qualifications\/Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

Minimum 4 years experience in project development, commercial operations and\/or finance<\/p>\n

– Minimum 3 years experience in, or closely working with, Energy in deal construction, project development and\/or sales<\/p>\n

– Demonstrated experience in project development (and\/or project management) activities<\/p>\n

– Experience with negotiating contracts.<\/p>\n

– Demonstrated aptitude in economic modeling \/ pro-forma analysis<\/p>\n

– BS or MS degree in related curriculum<\/p>\n
