Job Purpose
\nReporting to the Financial Controller: Hotel Operations, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that the internal control environment is sound and assisting the General \/ Hotel Manager with the financial impact of business decisions<\/p>\n
Education
\nMatric
\nB.Com Accounting or similar qualification
\nCompletion of articles advantageous<\/p>\n
Experience:
\nMinimum of 3-5 years accounting experience in a financial environment, preferably within the hospitality environment<\/p>\n
Skills and Knowledge
\nApplication of sound accounting policies and procedures
\nKnowledge of Accpac, Opera, Micros or similar systems
\nExcel and Word skills essential
\nStrong management and interpersonal skills
\nAttention to detail and strong work ethics
\nHonesty, integrity<\/p>\n
Key Performance Areas:
\nAssisting as Finance\/Business Manager for the unit, working with the General Manager\/Hotel Manager on business strategies
\nImplement and maintain workplace policies and procedures
\nEnsure a stable internal control environment
\nPreparing financial forecasts.
\nEnsure on a continuous basis that all strategies are aligned with changes in the operational and financial environment
\nPrepare monthly management reports to Unit EOC to report on results for the unit
\nPrepare budget for the unit.
\nEnsure all revenue raised is accounted for and reported on a monthly basis
\nAudit and review cost reports to ensure proper cost and stock controls are in place
\nReview journals done by Assistant Accountants to ensure it is a true and accurate reflection of the financial position in the unit and all entries are in line with IFRS
\nReview balance sheets to ensure accuracy, validity and completeness of all reconciliation items and identify any possible over provision or risks
\nSecure the internal control environment
\nContinuous innovation to add value to the unit and the business in general<\/p>\n
