The positions will be based in Pretoria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job purpose:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To support and grow the development of DPSS SET pipeline candidates and initiatives for future engineers within the unit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attract and support the development of high calibre engineering bursars.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in outreach initiatives for SET pipeline students and school visits.<\/li>\n<li>Act as a mentor to junior engineers and students.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and coordinate a structured vacation training programme in partnership with DPSS engineers.<\/li>\n<li>Support the development and skills in the following:<\/li>\n<li>Digital and analogue design including:<\/li>\n<li>In complex, high-speed digital design<\/li>\n<li>Programmable logic design using VHDL<\/li>\n<li>Simulations to verify design functions<\/li>\n<li>Schematic capture<\/li>\n<li>Exposure to debugging and verification, which entails:<\/li>\n<li>Use of state-of-the-art equipment to debug designs<\/li>\n<li>Formal functional verification<\/li>\n<li>Formal acceptance testing<\/li>\n<li>System and sub-system integration<\/li>\n<li>Complete acceptance test reports<\/li>\n<li>Configuration and quality management;<\/li>\n<li>Technical report writing and presentation skills; and<\/li>\n<li>Induction into the engineering career in the defence industry.<\/li>\n<li>Provide junior engineers with opportunities to work on real projects.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with career development of candidate engineers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications, skills and experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Bachelor\u2019s degree in electronic or mechanical engineering.<\/li>\n<li>Extensive engineering experience.<\/li>\n<li>Extensive knowledge of engineering design, system engineering tools and engineering projects.<\/li>\n<li>Registered as a professional engineer with ECSA.<\/li>\n<li>A valid driver\u2019s licence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Behavioural competencies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to delegate projects to junior engineers.<\/li>\n<li>Good communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Good presentation skills.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to travel nationally.<\/li>\n<li>Flexible working hours can be arranged.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>How to Apply to\u00a0Engineering Mentor Careers<\/h4>\n<p>Click on the &#8220;Apply Now&#8221; button or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/candidate.csir.co.za\/psp\/hr91prd_cgw\/EMPLOYEE\/HRMS\/c\/HRS_HRAM.HRS_CE.GBL?Page=HRS_CE_JOB_DTL&amp;Action=A&amp;JobOpeningId=300916&amp;SiteId=1&amp;PostingSeq=1\">on this link<\/a>\u00a0to apply online<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PLEASE NOTE THAT FEEDBACK WILL BE GIVEN TO SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES ONLY.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Should you experience any problems in submitting your application, please contact the CSIR Recruitment Centre at\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Recruitmentqueries@csir.co.za<\/span>.
