Our Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) IT programme will give you a thorough insight into how technology drives our corporate and investment banking business through a series of rotations.<\/p>\n
In Personal and Business Banking (PBB) IT, you’ll join a specific IT team that will enable you to contribute to our business and help us to deliver excellent service to our personal and business banking customers.<\/p>\n
Our fast-paced IT division covers a number of exciting and challenging business areas. In IT we get involved in everything from keeping our existing systems running and upgrading them, to developing new technology that helps to drive the business forward.<\/p>\n
On this 18-month programme, you’ll enjoy the chance to experience a number of roles in three different areas of CIB IT. You’ll spend six months in each division, which will give you a complete view of how IT contributes to the running of an investment bank.<\/p>\n
Global markets technology provides technology solutions for trading on the financial markets. We enable businesses in foreign exchange, interest rate derivatives, credit derivatives, equity derivatives, commodities and exotic products. With a strong in-house development capability for risk systems and web trading, we also implement vendor products like Murex and Front Arena.<\/p>\n
In this team we develop and maintain the systems that manage CIB’s risk, capital and liquidity.<\/p>\n
In operations technology, we make sure that our vital operational systems \u2013 those which manage deal confirmations, settlements and reconciliations \u2013 meet CIB’s business needs.<\/p>\n
We provide portfolio, programme and project management services and resources to support the governance and efficient delivery of a wide-ranging project portfolio. How? By applying standard, best practice methodologies that we implement, maintain and measure.<\/p>\n
The service delivery team manages major IT incidents and system changes to support all business systems, improve performance and ensure our IT meets business needs. So we cover a number of functions, including an IT support desk, a computer operations team and an application support team.<\/p>\n
In this group we provide engineering and administration services for CIB’s IT infrastructure, from the data centre through to the desktop. Typically we cover areas such as database administration, server administration, storage administration, domain management, server and desktop build, capacity management and availability management.<\/p>\n
In this team we support all the technical systems for CIB’s operations across Africa.<\/p>\n
We’re responsible for ensuring that all of CIB’s enterprise architectures and other architectures are managed and controlled across the CIB business. Our main focus is on design governance and operational governance.<\/p>\n
Lasting 18 months, our South African IT programme gives you the chance to experience a number of roles in three different areas of CIB IT. You’ll spend six months in each division, giving you a complete view of how IT contributes to the running of an investment bank.<\/p>\n
Whether you’re interested in systems development, business analysis, project management or any other aspect of IT work, you’ll find that our IT programme matches your ambitions. Each year, our top performing graduates also get the chance to spend time in a role at one of our offices across the globe, such as London, Hong Kong, Sao Paulo or Paris.<\/p>\n
During the programme you’ll be assigned a mentor (usually a senior member of the IT division), as well as a ‘buddy’ who will help you settle into life at Standard Bank.<\/p>\n
Once you’ve completed the CIB IT programme, you’ll have a number of career opportunities available to you. You could become a business analyst, a database administrator, a developer, an infrastructure engineer, a project manager, a test analyst, or you could work in business support and development.<\/p>\n
So, whatever your IT ambitions, this programme provides an excellent springboard into your chosen IT career.<\/p>\n
To join the programme you’ll need to be a South African citizen in the final year of a postgraduate degree in computer science, information systems, advanced maths of finance or computer engineering.<\/p>\n
