The Department of Mineral Resources (DMR), in its Mine Health and Safety Inspectorate (MHSI), is contributing towards skills development by providing opportunities to unemployed diplomats and graduates through a Learner Inspector Training Programme for a period of two (2) years. There are possibilities for permanent employment on successful completion of the training programme, ie after the acquisition of a Government Certificate of Competency (GCC).<\/strong><\/p>\n Interested applicants should be South African citizens between 18 and 35 years of age and medically fit to work underground. They should have completed their qualifications at a recognised tertiary institution in the following fields of study:<\/p>\n \u2022 Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
\n\u2022 Mechanical Engineering
\n\u2022 Mining Engineering
\n\u2022 Mine Surveying
\n\u2022 Occupational Hygiene<\/p>\n
