To remain effective, Amnesty International\u2019s (AI) International Secretariat needs to adapt to that change. That\u2019s why we\u2019re opening a hub in Johannesburg. And why we need you to lead it.<\/p>\n<p>ABOUT THE ROLE<br \/>\nOur Southern African hub will work to ensure equality, democracy and fair and just societies throughout a vast and diverse region.\u00a0As Regional Director in Johannesburg, you will develop and adapt our global strategies within the Southern African context. You\u2019ll lead your multifunctional team to develop and deliver effective research, campaigns, communications, growth, fundraising and relationship plans. So you\u2019ll need to create a culture of collaboration and integration as you establish the hub, support your staff and take accountability for managing resources. At the same time, you\u2019ll be guaranteeing that your team comply with all the relevant legislation, policies and practices whilst adhering to AI\u2019s standards of independence, impartiality and credibility.<\/p>\n<p>ABOUT YOU<br \/>\nA politically astute, inspirational and resilient leader, you\u2019ll bring us expert knowledge and experience of human rights in addition to a well-developed understanding of the international human rights framework. The sound knowledge of Southern African political and social contexts that comes from living and working in the region is also essential. As is a leadership background within a similarly complex organisation. You\u2019ll be a strategic thinker who can create plans, manage staff, allocate resources and maintain a strong network of government, NGO and media contacts. So you\u2019ll have the communication, presentation and advocacy skills needed to represent AI to a variety of audiences, along with the credibility to influence them and effect positive change.<\/p>\n<p>ABOUT US<br \/>\nOur aim is simple: an end to human rights abuses.
