The Masakhi\u2019 iSizwe Centre of Excellence offers bursaries for study towards a degree or higher diploma in the following disciplines:<\/p>\n
Architecture.
\nConstruction Management.
\nCivil Engineering.
\nElectrical Engineering.
\nMechanical Engineering.
\nQuantity Surveying.
\nTown and Regional Planning.<\/p>\n
What Does the Bursary Cover?<\/p>\n
During term time the bursaries cover:<\/p>\n
Tuition fees.
\nall prescribed books and materials.
\naccommodation and meals (or transport costs).<\/p>\n
Bursaries are renewed each year for the duration of the degree, subject to academic performance and fulfilment of the bursary conditions.
\nWill I Have to Pay or Work Anything Back?<\/p>\n
The bursaries are offered on a work-back basis. In other words, you will have to work for the public service for every year of the bursary. During your studies you will also need to:<\/p>\n
Attend workshops, learning events and meetings organised by the Centre.
\nUndertake academic vacation placements at sites determined by the Centre.
\nParticipate in service learning and\/or volunteer programmes organised by the Centre.<\/p>\n
Where Can the Bursaries be Taken up?<\/p>\n
University of Cape Town.
\nUniversity of the Western Cape.
\nUniversity of Stellenbosch.
\nCape Peninsula University of Technology.<\/p>\n
Who Can Apply for a Bursary?<\/p>\n
To apply for one of these bursaries you must be:<\/p>\n
A South African citizen.
\nBe accepted at the relevant tertiary institution.<\/p>\n
Preference will be given to financially disadvantaged female learners from rural areas of South Africa.

Bursaries are advertised in all leading and community newspapers during September each year. The closing date for applications is 30 September every year. Applications can be faxed or delivered to:<\/p>\n
