{"id":13911,"date":"2013-08-30T12:00:41","date_gmt":"2013-08-30T10:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=13911"},"modified":"2013-08-30T12:08:36","modified_gmt":"2013-08-30T10:08:36","slug":"it-specialist-unix-2-positions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/it-specialist-unix-2-positions.html","title":{"rendered":"IT Specialist Unix &#8211; 2 Positions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SPECIALIST (C5) &#8211; (2 X Positions) \u2013 UNIX -Hosts and Job scheduling<br \/>\nIT Service Delivery (Corporate: Eco Point: Centurion)<br \/>\nReports to Manager: IT Postbank Production and Infrastructure-Hosts and Job scheduling<br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Summation<\/strong><br \/>\nThe successful candidate will be responsible to support the IT Service delivery \u2013Server Management services Provided to the user community through the use of ITIL Change management process and procedures, thereby ensuring these changes do not result in exception\/outages which would impact negatively on the delivery of services to customer and clients.<br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and implement the departmental operational plan<\/li>\n<li>Analyse the IT Service Delivery strategy and roadmap pertinent to the server management function to determine the future trends, strategic direction and legal implication and feed into manager<\/li>\n<li>Design systems, install hardware and operating systems; identify solutions through constant interfacing with appropriate management levels, clients, departments and vendor organization to ensure a cost effective and efficient infrastructure environment is available to provide the processing power essential to department operations.<\/li>\n<li>Design and implement system architectures<\/li>\n<li>Develop \/ follow procedures for UNIX administration<\/li>\n<li>Recommend standards and guidelines<\/li>\n<li>Recommend \/select specific products as necessary, participating in tool and vendor evaluations.<\/li>\n<li>Manage server management<\/li>\n<li>Troubleshoot problems and handle client queries<\/li>\n<li>Monitor and measure the performance consistently in accordance with the metrics agreed upon in the SLA`s<\/li>\n<li>Maintain systems and platforms<\/li>\n<li>Provide expert consultation\/advice<\/li>\n<li>Design solution<\/li>\n<li>Conduct an impact study to determine the possible effect on the current and associated systems<\/li>\n<li>Conduct appropriate research to obtain the necessary information required<\/li>\n<li>Complete consultation actions within the allocated time frames<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Full credit bearing National Diploma (NQF 5) in: Information Technology<br \/>\n\u2022 Full credit bearing Bachelor Degree (NQF 6) in: Information Technology, computer science or commerce will be an advantage<br \/>\n\u2022 At least5 years applicable experience (Diploma)<br \/>\n\u2022 At least 2 years applicable experience (Degree)<br \/>\n\u2022 ITIL V3.0 Foundation an advantage<br \/>\n\u2022 AIX 6.1 or 7.1 Certified an advantage<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Skills &amp;\u00a0Attitudes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SKILLS<br \/>\n\u2022 Conflict management<br \/>\n\u2022 Able to work independently as well as in a team<br \/>\n\u2022 Analytical and objective with attention to detail<br \/>\n\u2022 Time management<br \/>\n\u2022 Lifecycle management<br \/>\n\u2022 An ability to present findings and to persuade and obtain willing co-operation from others<br \/>\n\u2022 Results\/deadline orientated<br \/>\n\u2022 Able to handle a degree of routine tasks<br \/>\n\u2022 Excellent communication (verbal&amp; written)skills and good interpersonal skills<\/p>\n<p>ATTITUDES<br \/>\n\u2022 Calm,<br \/>\n\u2022 Decisive,<br \/>\n\u2022 Self-motivating,<br \/>\n\u2022 Self-starter<br \/>\n\u2022 Results orientated \/<br \/>\n\u2022 Deadline driven<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to handle work pressure and stress<\/p>\n<p>The South African Post Office is committed to the achievement and maintenance of diversity and equity in employment, especially with regard to race, gender and disability.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>How to Apply<\/h4>\n<p>Send your applications to: Recruitment &amp; Selection :HCM<br \/>\nPO Box 2042<br \/>\nCorporate Post Office<br \/>\n0074<br \/>\nEmail: Careers@postoffice.co.za<\/p>\n<p>Closing Date: 04 September 2013<br \/>\nPosition Number: 60029224,60029225<\/p>\n<p>Correspondence will be limited to short-listed candidates only.
