Established in terms of the South African Revenue Service Act 34 of 1997 as an autonomous agency, we are responsible for administering the South African tax system and customs service.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Our responsibilities are to:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Collect and administer all national taxes, duties and levies<\/li>\n<li>Collect revenue that may be imposed under any other legislation as agreed on between SARS and a state entity entitled to the revenue<\/li>\n<li>Provide a customs service that facilitates trade, maximises revenue collection and\u00a0protects our borders from illegal importation and exportation of goods, and<\/li>\n<li>Advise the Minister of Finance on all revenue matters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>About SARS Internships<\/h3>\n<div>Internships are work-based training programmes that offer trainees work experience related to their field of study.<\/div>\n<p>Interns are placed on a 12-month contract and receive a monthly stipend. It is important to note that with regards to internships, SARS does not provide a structured learning programme.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the internship, interns who meet SARS\u2019s requirements and apply for an available vacancy may be placed in a permanent position.<\/p>\n<p>SARS\u2019s internships are aimed at final year students at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Further Education and Training (FET) Colleges as well as unemployed graduates who wish to pursue a career at SARS.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>South African Revenue Service (SARS) Internships South African Revenue Service (SARS) is the nation\u2019s tax collecting authority.
