{"id":14856,"date":"2013-09-30T09:17:00","date_gmt":"2013-09-30T07:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=14856"},"modified":"2013-09-30T09:17:00","modified_gmt":"2013-09-30T07:17:00","slug":"nhls-medical-technologist-internship-2014-massive-recruitment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/nhls-medical-technologist-internship-2014-massive-recruitment.html","title":{"rendered":"NHLS: Medical Technologist Internship 2014 [Massive Recruitment]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>(18 MONTH FIXED-TERM CONTRACT)<\/strong><br \/>\n(Pay Zone TB3)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gauteng Region<br \/>\n<\/strong>(Ref: GAU0913\/001-01)<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Western Cape Region<br \/>\n<\/strong>(Ref: WC0913\/001-01)<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Eastern Cape Region<br \/>\n<\/strong>(Ref: EC0913\/001-01)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Free State and North West Region<br \/>\n<\/strong>(Ref: FS \/ NW0913\/001-01)<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mpumalanga and Limpopo Region<\/strong><br \/>\n(Ref: MP\/LP0913\/001-01)<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>KZN Region<br \/>\n<\/strong>(Ref: KZN0913\/001-01)<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Interns will learn to perform these tasks under supervision:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check temperature of lab equipment (fridges, incubators, etc) to ensure that samples are stored at the correct temperature as per SOPs<\/li>\n<li>Record, label and receive samples for processing as per SOPs to ensure that samples meet all the testing\u00a0 criteria (correct quantity, age, room temperature, etc)<\/li>\n<li>Clean and maintain equipment as per SOPs to ensure that equipment is sterile and ready for use<\/li>\n<li>Perform tests in human tissue\/liquid samples under supervision on lab equipment as per SOPs<\/li>\n<li>Stain samples to check for growth as per SOPs<\/li>\n<li>Adhere to health and safety procedure in the labs as per the safety manual<\/li>\n<li>Calibrate and perform relevant controls under supervision on lab equipment as per SOPs to facilitate quality results<\/li>\n<li>Perform general administrative duties as per instructions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Key competency requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A grade 12 certificate (Maths and Science)<\/li>\n<li>National Diploma in Biomedical Technology<\/li>\n<li>REgistration with the HPCSA as a Medical Technologist (student)<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of laboratory information system would be an advantage<\/li>\n<li>Technical orientation<\/li>\n<li>Attention to detail<\/li>\n<li>Team orientation<\/li>\n<li>abilitty to work under pressure and sociable hours<\/li>\n<li>Computer literacy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>How to Apply<\/h3>\n<p>Please submit applications to the administrator (HR) via email at <strong>tebogo.tena@nhls.ac.za<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please indicate the relevant reference number and job title on all applications.
