\nWaggener Edstrom, one of the world\u2019s largest independent integrated communications agencies, is looking for driven professionals to join our highly successful office in Johannesburg. With offices in central Joburg we are keen to bolster our ranks with a talented PR\/Public Relations Senior Account Executive.<\/p>\n

Our South Africa office is one of 19 across the globe, and it\u2019s expanding rapidly. We work across time zones and continents. Our clients are innovative and so is our work \u2013 and importantly, our employees come first.<\/p>\n

We are currently looking for a first-rate public relations operator to assume responsibility across established technology brands; providing insightful client counsel, a deep understanding of the technology sector and passion for business writing.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities<\/strong>
\nInfluencer Engagement
\n\u2022 Identify, build & grow relationships with media\/influencers; begin to have exposure to key senior level influencers
\n\u2022 Identify, develop & pitch stories
\n\u2022 Drive strategic recommendations for outreach in integrated marketing or other campaign tactics to impact client\/business narrative
\n\u2022 Continue to deepen knowledge of global influencers<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Digital & Social Media Acumen<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Partner with the agency\u2019s social\/digital leads to drive news strategies
\n\u2022 Lead integrating fresh thinking for social media brainstorms & campaign development
\n\u2022 Oversee account activity & engagements with the agency\u2019s social\/digital divisions
\n\u2022 Responsible for consistency of voice\/tone among the client\u2019s different social media properties
\n\u2022 Manage the social editorial calendar (& integration with marketing calendar \u2013 newsletters, website updates, etc.)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Client Engagement<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Anticipate client communication challenges & develop recommendations
\n\u2022 Consistently provide strategic & tactical counsel that maps to client\u2019s business problem
\n\u2022 Serve as primary day-to-day contact with clients; proactively engage on issues
\n\u2022 Manage projects and news announcements with little guidance
\n\u2022 Report issues with scope of work to leads & make recommendations on ways to resolve<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Business Acumen & Strategic Thinking<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Develop & execute integrated communication plans with little guidance
\n\u2022 Coach staff and lead by example regarding utilization management & the impact to team\/agency<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

New Business Development<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Proactively assist team leadership in growing & diversifying existing account beyond current scope
\n\u2022 Identify & create relationships that are mutually beneficial for the agency & clients
\n\u2022 Participate in preparation & delivery of organic growth or new business proposal content & in-person pitch meetings<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

People Leadership<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Coach & train junior level staff
\n\u2022 Manage up & educate more senior staff on day-to-day business & account health
\n\u2022 May assist in interview & new hire process<\/p>\n

Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Strong experience in communications, preferably in an agency setting &\/or within applicable industry
\n\u2022 Ability to drive client relationships, providing strategic & tactical advice, drafting\/executing plans, providing thoughtful analysis, identifying proactive opportunities, crafting materials, tracking coverage
\n\u2022 Has established influential relationships & proactively placed stories
\n\u2022 Demonstrated ability to establish strong client relationships
\n\u2022 Strong organizational skills & ability to multi-task, work in a team environment, and meet deadlines
\n\u2022 Proficiency in computers & standard office applications (Microsoft Office is preferred)
\n\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree or above preferred in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English or related field
