PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
\nResponsible for the execution of maintenance requests and works orders to the desired
\nstandard. Feedback on tasks undertaken once completed to improve equipment history.<\/p>\n
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
\n\u00b7 Availability of plant equipment – measured by downtime versus running time.
\n\u00b7 Man hour utilisation – measured in man hours utilised versus planned hours.
\n\u00b7 Downtime of equipment \u2013 measured by length of time equipment is out of production.<\/p>\n
COMPETENCIES:
\n\u00b7 As an advocate of safe working principles, the philosophy of Zero Harm needs to be
\npractised and adhered to, with continuous improvement of safety performance.
\n\u00b7 Improve the standard of housekeeping in areas of responsibility and actively promote
\nthe implementation of 6S.
\n\u00b7 Adherence to set targets with regards to pro-active safety tools.
\n\u00b7 Be conversant on all plant specific baseline risk assessments and S.W.P\u2019s which will be
\nmade freely available.
\n\u00b7 Ensure a high level of quality on all tasks undertaken.
\n\u00b7 Ensure that the information returned on works orders is complete and aid with improving
\nequipment availability.
\n\u00b7 Execute assigned work as per works order\/task list.
\n\u00b7 Record maintenance activities on job cards for analysis and capture by planning
\nfunction.
\n\u00b7 Requisition of supplies from buffer stores.
\n\u00b7 Improve the utilisation of resources to ensure full use of available human resource and
\nensure skills transfer takes place within the section through effective implementation of
\nperformance and development activities.
\n\u00b7 Proactively raise notifications\/improvements.
\n\u00b7 Ensure that work is carried out in the correct manner, as required.<\/p>\n

KNOWLEDGE \/ SKILLS
\n\u00b7 Knowledge of the operations of a Steel Plant will be advantageous.
\n\u00b7 Planning and Coordination
\n\u00b7 Leadership
\n\u00b7 Decision making
\n\u00b7 Verbal and non-verbal communication.<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS:
\n\u00b7 N3 with Trade Certificate in Boilermaking.<\/p>\n
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
\n\u00b7 This position is directly responsible to the Foreman \u2013 BOF and Ladle Bay.<\/p>\n
PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES:
\n\u00b7 Must be able to obtain a satisfactory medical report from the company\u2019s medical station
\n(Red ticket).
\n\u00b7 May be required to work additional hours from time to time.
\n\u00b7 Must have own transport and required license.<\/p>\n
ABILITY TEST\/ASSESSMENT:
\n\u00b7 Applicants may be subjected to an Occupational Personality Questionnaire before being
\nconsidered for an appointment.<\/p>\n
