{"id":15377,"date":"2013-10-16T01:48:47","date_gmt":"2013-10-15T23:48:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=15377"},"modified":"2013-10-16T01:48:47","modified_gmt":"2013-10-15T23:48:47","slug":"african-development-bank-windows-msexchange-engineer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/african-development-bank-windows-msexchange-engineer.html","title":{"rendered":"African Development Bank: Windows MS\/Exchange Engineer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The principal activities of the Corporate Application Services Division are to ensure that the customer interface of email services, ERP and other system services, knowledge Management, internet, Intranet, database administration and all the software applications of the Bank fit the needs of the Institution and function in an efficient and cost effective manner.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Duties and responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Under the general supervision of the Division Chief of the Corporate Application Services and the Chief of\u00a0 System Engineer &amp; DBA the incumbent will ensure\u00a0 the provision of specialist technical expertise in supporting , installing, testing, tuning, optimizing, diagnosing problems, repairing, upgrading and maintaining for all windows platforms including MS Exchange, active Directory , SharePoint, office automated systems\u00a0 both externally and internally supplied hardware and systems software such as operating systems, data management products, office automation products, embedded systems, and other utility enabling system. The incumbent will carry the following duties:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that organization\u2019s windows based computer and server systems are optimized to suit the business of the organization.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that organization\u2019s computer and server systems are safe from internal and external hazards &#8211; personal, virus, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Install, maintain and support the organization&#8217;s systems hardware, software and peripherals in line with Service Level requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Manage risks related to computer and server operations.<\/li>\n<li>Manage system hardware and software configuration items related to the computer and server operations<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that organization\u2019s computer and server systems are fully operational and functional, in line with Service Level requirements<\/li>\n<li>Install, maintain and support the organization&#8217;s systems hardware, software and peripherals in line with Service Level requirements and in accordance with standards and project\/operational requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Upgrade and maintain all windows platforms including MS Exchange, active Directory, SharePoint, and office automated systems.<\/li>\n<li>Involved in the full systems life cycle and assists with designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining and supporting application software that is delivered on time and within budget<\/li>\n<li>Integrate applications<\/li>\n<li>Participate in component and data architecture design,\u00a0 performance monitoring, product evaluation and buy versus build recommendations<\/li>\n<li>Produce requirement \/ system specifications<\/li>\n<li>Works on one or more projects as a project team member or occasionally as a project lead<\/li>\n<li>Manage risks related to server operations.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and use formal procedures to plan and test proposed solutions to service problems.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and use procedures for collection of critical information in the event of system hardware or software failure.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to and maintain system standards.<\/li>\n<li>Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.<\/li>\n<li>Understand and adhere to Bank\u2019s standard operating procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor databases to optimize database performance, resource use, and physical implementations of databases.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure proper security of all databases and their respective database management systems in accordance with security policies and procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.<\/li>\n<li>Install and test new versions of system software.<\/li>\n<li>Control and manage database configuration including installing and upgrading software servers and application tools, ensuring that version control procedures are observed, applying fixes, and maintaining supplier and user documentation.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure proper security of all databases and their respective database management systems in accordance with security policies and procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Implementing High Availability.<\/li>\n<li>Provide user support for Level 2\/3 and above support issue escalations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Selection Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Including desirable skills, knowledge and experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least an Engineering Degree or master degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in ICT gained with similar multinational organization of major private or public institutions.<\/li>\n<li>Extensive knowledge and experience in Windows environments.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of Microsoft SQL server Database.<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in networking and communication technologies: TCP\/IP networks, WAN protocols, wiring and cabling, and network management solutions<\/li>\n<li>ITIL Foundation Certificate or PRINCE2 certification is desirable.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge and experience of large IT infrastructure components (server, storage and network).<\/li>\n<li>Experience and\/or knowledge with QoS implementation, VoIP, WAN switching and routing, load-balancing and application-delivery solutions.<\/li>\n<li>Strong analytical skills associated to capacity to solve problems.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as ability to work under pressure, meeting competing deadlines<\/li>\n<li>Strong interpersonal skills; and strong analytical ability and supervisory skills.<\/li>\n<li>Strong teamwork skills.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate in English and\/or French or good working knowledge for other language.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Only applicants who fully meet the Bank&#8217;s requirements and are being considered for interview will be contacted.\u00a0Applicants will only be considered if they submit an online application, and attach a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV).
