The Institutional Planning Department is responsible for providing information and a range of services to support decision making and promote a culture of continuous improvement within the university. The Department has established an Internship to enable people, who would like to work in a university, to acquire practical experience.<\/p>\n
What can you learn during your internship in a Planning Department?<\/b><\/p>\n
The intern would have an opportunity of working in any\/all the following areas during the internship: Institutional Information and Research, Academic Planning, Social Responsiveness, the UCT Knowledge Coop and Quality Assurance. More information can be found on these areas on the Planning Department\u2019s\u00a0website<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n During the year the intern can develop the following kinds of skills and knowledge:<\/b><\/p>\n Knowledge about university policies and issues and challenges facing universities<\/p>\n Project management, team work, report writing, minute taking and networking skills<\/p>\n Statistical analysis<\/p>\n How to promote and enhance the contributions of universities to addressing development challenges facing South Africa and the continent more broadly<\/p>\n Servicing of university committees<\/p>\n Knowledge about academic planning and quality management systems in universities<\/p>\n How to broker partnerships between the University and community partners<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Requirements:<\/b><\/p>\n Potential candidates should have:<\/i><\/p>\n a university degree (preferably an Honours or Postgraduate Diploma)<\/p>\n an interest in working in a university<\/p>\n potential to succeed based on past performance in other contexts<\/p>\n good verbal and written communication skills<\/p>\n Proven computer literacy<\/p>\n Candidates with statistical expertise are particularly encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Remuneration<\/b><\/p>\n The annual remuneration is between R100 000 and R 141 815 and will be commensurate with the tasks detailed in a fixed-term contract and previous work or other experience.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Applications<\/b><\/p>\n
