The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) hereby offers Civil Engineering and Town and Regional Planning graduates a 3 year internship towards professional registration as professional Technicians in terms of the Planning Professions Act 36 of 2002 and Engineering Professions Act No 46 of 2000 for the benefit of building municipal internal capacity.<\/p>\n
MISA is a component of the Department of Cooperative Governance (DCoG) established in terms of Section 7(2) Schedule 3 of the Public Service Act of 1994 (as amended), established to build technical capacity of municipalities to undertake efficient planning, delivery, operations and management of municipal infrastructure, among other functions.<\/p>\n
Whilst the programme is not exclusively limited to individuals from previously disadvantaged communities, MISA strives for excellence in the context of service delivery and skills development and encourages historically disadvantaged individuals to apply. The MISA Young Professionals programme is a structured work-based internship development program focused on taking young graduates from various Universities and FET Colleges through a structured work plan in order to increase their work experience and achieve professional registration as professional Technicians with the relevant statutory professional registrations body.<\/p>\n
The recruitment cohort for the 2013\/2014 financial year is exclusively retained for the recruitment of Town Planning and Civil Engineering graduates in line with the requirements of the Planning Profession Act 36 of 2002 and Engineering Professions Act No 46 of 2000 towards professional registration with the SA Council of Planners (SACPLAN) and the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) respectively.<\/p>\n
Successful candidates will enter into a three-year internship contract with MISA and be deployed to municipal Technical departments for local government service delivery. MISA offers a 3 year workplace internship opportunity with municipalities for the Town Planning and Civil Engineering disciplines:-<\/p>\n

Eligibility:<\/b>\u00a0University graduates meeting the minimum academic requirements in the form of:-<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Civil Engineering<\/b>\u00a0– National Diploma or B. Tech degree (Engineering)<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Town & Regional Planning<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 National Diploma or 3 year B.Tech degree (Town & Regional Planning.<\/p>\n

Requirements:<\/b><\/p>\n
\u2022 Computer Literacy.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Possession of a valid driver\u2019s license.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Minimum of 1 – 2 years relevant verifiable Town Planning\/Civil Engineering workplace experience.<\/p>\n

Applicants must be South African citizens and residents of the following municipalities:-<\/p>\n

Applicants must be willing and available to undergo 3 years structured training, deployment and rotation to municipalities and private sector Consultancies leading towards professional registration. MISA does not guarantee post-internship employment to graduates owing to participation in the internship programme. All applications need to include:-<\/p>\n
