{"id":15730,"date":"2013-11-18T08:03:42","date_gmt":"2013-11-18T06:03:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=15730"},"modified":"2016-06-29T16:03:05","modified_gmt":"2016-06-29T14:03:05","slug":"south-african-police-service-forensic-analyst","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/south-african-police-service-forensic-analyst.html","title":{"rendered":"South African Police Service: Forensic Analyst (Crime Scene Laboratories) &#8211; 6 Positions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Section: Crime Scene Laboratories<br \/>\nComponent: Criminal Record and Crime Scene Management<br \/>\nLocation of the post: Brits: North West (1 Post) (Ref FS 131\/2013)<br \/>\nJohannesburg: Gauteng (1 Post) (Ref FS 132\/2013)<br \/>\nKuruman: Northern Cape (1 Post) (Ref FS 133\/2013)<br \/>\nUpington: Northern Cape (1 Post) (Ref FS 134\/2013)<br \/>\nLephalale: Limpopo (1 Post) (Ref FS 135\/2013)<br \/>\nGeorge: Western Cape (1 Post) (Ref FS 136\/2013<br \/>\nSalary Level: BAND B1 Salary Notch 3 R212 286 (Per Annum)<br \/>\n<strong>Additional Requirements:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 A three year NQF 6 qualification, majoring in one or more of the following: Forensic Science \/<br \/>\nInvestigation, Criminalistics, Police Science, Criminology, Police Administration, Police<br \/>\nManagement, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Law of Science, Mathematics, Statistics,<br \/>\nand Applied Mathematics will be an advantage.<br \/>\n\u2022 A minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in the field of the post will be an advantage.<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Core Responsibilities:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Examine evidence or exhibits at crime scenes or in the laboratory for Fingerprints using the chemical<br \/>\nmethods<br \/>\n\u2022 Capture the outcome of processed evidence using digital capturing system<br \/>\n\u2022 Maintain facilities in terms of general laboratory practices<br \/>\n\u2022 Store and dispose exhibits according to laboratory prescripts<br \/>\n\u2022 Prepare final reports and affidavits on findings for court purposes<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>How To Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Only the official application form (available on the SAPS website and at SAPS recruitment offices) will be accepted. The Z83 previously utilized will no longer be accepted. All instructions on the application form must be adhered to and previous criminal convictions must be declared. Failure to do so may result in the rejection of the application.<\/li>\n<li>The post particulars and reference number of the post must be correctly specified on the application form.<\/li>\n<li>Persons who retired from the Public Service by taking a severance package, early retirement or for medical reasons, as well as persons with previous convictions, are excluded.<\/li>\n<li>A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae must be submitted together with the application form.<\/li>\n<li>Certified copies (certification preferably by Police Officers) of an applicant\u2019s ID document, motor vehicle drivers license (Police Act appointments), Senior Certificate and all educational qualifications obtained and service certificates of previous employers stating the occupation and the period, must also be submitted and attached to every application.<\/li>\n<li>The copies must be correctly certified on the copy itself, not at the back. The certification must not be older than three months.<\/li>\n<li>All qualifications and driver\u2019s licenses submitted will be subjected to verification checking with the relevant institutions. The South African Police Service will verify the residential address of applicants and conduct reference checks.<\/li>\n<li>Applications must be mailed timeously. Late applications will not be accepted or considered.<\/li>\n<li>The closing date for the applications is 22 November 2013.<\/li>\n<li>Appointments will be made in terms of the SAPS Act or Public Service Act as applicable to the post environment.<\/li>\n<li>If a candidate is short-listed, it can be expected of him\/her to undergo a personal interview.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants appointed under the Police Service Act will be subjected to a medical assessment by a medical practitioner as determined by SAPS prescripts.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants appointed under the Police Service Act will be subjected to undergo a lateral entry programme at a SAPS training institution, where applicable.<\/li>\n<li>Short-listed candidates for appointment to certain identified posts, will be vetted in terms of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007 (Act No 32 of 2007) and the Children\u2019s Act, 2005<\/li>\n<li>(Act No 38 of 2005). A candidate, whose particulars appear in either the National Register for Sex Offenders or Part B of the Child Protection Register, will be disqualified from appointment to that post.<\/li>\n<li>All short-listed candidates will be subjected to fingerprint screening.<\/li>\n<li>Correspondence will be conducted with successful candidates only.
