Deputy Director: Health and safety<\/p>\n

Requirements:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

A recognized degree or national diploma in Occupational Health &
\nSafety\/Environmental\/Risk\/Quality or equivalent relevant qualification
\nExtensive relevant experiences in environment, safety and health management.
\nProven experience and knowledge in either of ISO14001\/ ISO9001 \/ ISO31000
\nstandards.
\nExperience in environment, safety and health management policy development and
\nimplementation
\nKnowledge and experience in implementation of OHSA Act. and other relevant
\nlegislation
\nProven strategic management and leadership skills
\nGood communication skills (both verbal and report writing) with experience in
\nstakeholder engagement
\nExperience in programme and project management
\nExperience in financial management and related legislation within the public sector.<\/p>\n

Duties:<\/strong>
\nDevelop, implement, monitor and review environmental safety and health strategies,
\npolicies and procedures, risk assessments and safe working practices.
\nProvide accurate and clear interpretation of Health & Safety legislation and codes of
\npractice.
\nIdentify potential environmental, health and safety emergencies and specify the
\napplicable response actions in accordance with the relevant standard operation
\nprocedure to minimise the impact on the environment and human health and safety.
\nDevelop systems to ensure all employees comply with all relevant legal safety
\nrequirements.
\nIdentify safety training needs, organise and co-ordinate safety training courses and
\nprepare training material where appropriate.
\nEvaluate incident forms, surveys, audits to establish root causes, formulate a plan of
\naction to correct non-compliant behaviour or conditions.
\nLiaise with Islands and Antarctic base station to ensure their compliance with safety
\nregulations and adherence to safety standards, including basic safety induction
\ntraining.
\nMonitors health, safety and environment performance across all parts of Chief
\nDirectorate and as a whole, to understand and manage emerging health, safety and
\nenvironment system performance issues.
\nLiaises regularly with peers to ensure that they have the support they need or them
\nto meet their health, safety and environment accountabilities.
\nEnsure effective communication and build relationships with key stakeholders.
\nManage financial resources and ensure availability of adequate and skilled human
\ncapital for the directorate.<\/p>\n
