South African Airways is seeking to appoint a Groups Manager. The incumbent will report to the Manager – Revenue Managment. The key function of the role is to maximize Group revenue through monitoring and controlling of Inventory levels assigned to group bookings, taking into account desired fare levels, seasonality as well as providing viable alternates to group bookings contribution to revenue.<\/p>\n

\nAbility to read and interpret the effect of currency variations on fares
\nAnalysis of flights in order to firm up flights before departure
\nAbility to predict no show rates effectively
\nConstantly monitor the fares being offered by competitors
\nConstantly monitor the integrity of travel agents booking profiles
\nUnderstand and interpret the relationship between yields, load factors and the unit costs and the impact thereof on airline’s revenue and financial targets
\nDay-to-day monitoring and control of seat availability in each fare group on each flight to ensure that revenue is maximized
\nConstant analysis and interpretation of updated information on sales and other key data in the reservation systems
\nUnderstand the booking conditions attached to different fares and seat availability as tools to channel seats to the passengers paying higher fares
\nForecast sales by class reviewed periodically in the period starting 12 months before departure
\nMaximise revenue by capturing the consumer surplus by selling each seat at the maximum that each passenger is prepared to pay
\nAbility to report on booked versus flown hit ratio (take-up rate)
\nDevelop models to predict no show rates and introduce booking conditions which discourage no-shows
\nAbility to sell up
\nEvaluate group requests ensuring acceptance will not displace higher value traffic
\nInvestigate utilization and materialisation rates of groups to ensure Inventory will not unnecessarily be spoilt through late return of unused space
\nPrepare and present own performance statistics
\nMonitor contractual arrangements with intermediaries and monitor group performance and compliance with intermediaries by constant analysis to ensure that preference is given to those who normally perform better when competing requests for space on the same flight is received
\nEnsure that seat utilisation of SAA are optimised in respect of all group bookings contributing to the Revenue and yield
\nManage and analyse Inventory for large events
\nAssist in determining contractual terms and conditions
\nMonitor intermediary \/ group performance
\nNegotiate group space and prices
\nEnsure compliance with SPA agreements in relation to groups
\nLiaise with route analysts ensuring groups are in line with specific route strategies<\/p>\n\n\n
