The role<\/b><\/p>\n
Blasting activities are monitored, results are analysed and recommendations are made to achieve the desired fragmentation.\u00a0 Responsible for the design of blast blocks using a suitable software application.\u00a0 This includes the design of the drilling pattern, relief holes etc. as well as simulating the timing of the blast in order to optimise fragmentation.\u00a0 Blast blocks must be inspected periodically to ensure conformance to set standards.\u00a0 Charged blast blocks are visited to provide technical support on timing, initiation point, blasting sequence and tying up of holes.\u00a0 Latest blasting technologies are sought, tested, analysed, evaluated and recommendations are made about the ability to implement on the Mine.\u00a0 Ensure alignment with Anglo American GTS (Group Technical Standards) that are applicable for drilling and blasting activities.\u00a0 Advice must be provided pro-actively to alleviate or avoid possible problems; advice must be provided to the relevant parties to ensure that Thabazimbi Mine complies with all blasting related legislation. Adhering to all relevant company health and safety standards and requirements, work ethics is of such a nature that it benefits the company and everyone working for it; assistance provided pro-actively or when asked for by supervisor or team members, continuously promotes good housekeeping.<\/p>\n

You will need<\/b><\/p>\n
Knowledge of mining processes and ore characteristics, analytical skills, research, project management, networking, problem solving skills, blasting techniques, holistic approach, communication skills, relationship building and the ability to function independently, be assertive, client orientated, organised and results driven.<\/p>\n

Requirements<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n
Preferably B Eng (Mining) or equivalent and 3 year’s relevant experience<\/p>\n
Minimum: NHD (Mining) or B Tech and 3 years relevant experience<\/p>\n
Blasting Certificate for open cast mines<\/p>\n

Remuneration<\/b><\/p>\n
The initial salary will be determined in accordance with Kumba Iron Ore Ltd. policies; this position is an Anglo Band 6<\/p>\n
