Key responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n Undertake underground and open cast mining studies, including mine designs, schedules, operating and capital cost estimates Maintain and improve technical skills in mining engineering in order to: <\/p>\n Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n At least 5 years mining experience Work type:\u00a0Full time <\/p>\n
\nEnsure that the methodology and tools used to undertake mining studies, ore reserve estimates and analysis are appropriate to attain the level of accuracy to meet the client requirements.
\nEnsure all reserve estimate statements undertaken comply with the appropriate code<\/p>\n
\n-Improve the quality of technical solutions
\n-Increase clients perception of technical capability
\n-Reduce rework rates (reduced cost and improved client acceptance)
\n-Improve efficiency (reduced costs\/improved competitiveness)
\nTake on the project manager role for nominated projects
\nIdentify developments in mining practice and analysis techniques which offer opportunity for improved efficiency and business development.
\nMust be registered as a competent person to undertake the signing off of competent person’s reports for World Bank type projects.<\/p>\n
\nA significant portion of the experience must have been spent in the South African mining environment, covering:
\n-Open cast – dragline and truck and shovel operations
\n-Underground – room and pillar, conventional stoping and continuous miner operations
\n-Other commodities like, copper, gold and platinum.
\nTertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering
\nHighly literate in mine planning software packages including: Cadsmine, mine 2 4 D, Xpac, Surpac, Datamine, Whittle.
\nExcellent report writing and communications skills
\nAn ability to maintain and develop professional and technical competencies
\nBe able to demonstrate effective negotiation and conflict management skills.
\nMine Manager’s Certificate of competency; and\/or PR Eng
\nStrong analytic ability
\nOpen pit and or Underground experience is required
\nUsing and understanding design software- advantageous.<\/p>\n
