REQUIREMENTS : Matric Certificate or National Certificate (Vocational). and appropriate degree or
\ndiploma in General Nursing; recognition with the South African Nursing Council
\n(SANC) as a General Nurse; Knowledge: Working knowledge of Nursing care
\nprocess and procedures, Nursing statues and other relevant legal frame work,
\nOccupational Health and Safety Act, Older Person\u2019s Charter and Regulations.
\nLabour Relations Act, Grievance Procedure, Patient\u2019s Rights Charter and Batho-
\nPele principles. Skills: Communication, Report Writing, Ability to work as a team,
\nInterpersonal Relations, Facilitation, Unit Management, Clinical Nursing
\nCompetencies and Policy Formulation; Analytical Thinking, Decision Making.<\/p>\n

DUTIES : Demonstrate an understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical
\nnursing practices; Perform a clinical nursing practices in accordance with the
\nscope of practice and nursing standards as determined by the relevant health
\nfacility; promote quality of nursing care as directed by the professional standards
\nas determined by the relevant health facility; Co-ordinate, Implement and
\nevaluate nursing care programmes; co-ordinate nursing care and prescribe care
\nplans for inmates; Ensure that a therapeutic environment is created and
\nmaintained; Participate in services training of all staff and conduct health
\npromotion talks for inmates; Promote and implement Batho-Pele principles and
\nthe rights of the elderly; Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety,
\nas well as infection control principles; Relieve the Chief Professional Nurse in
\ncharge.<\/p>\n
