The Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA) has been an active participant in the South African automotive industry since 1923, and remains one of Southern Africa\u2019s leading automotive companies.<\/p>\n
FMCSA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, selling over 47,000 Ford and Mazda vehicles in 2012 and continues to grow its market share.<\/p>\n
Ford\u2019s current vehicle line-up, which includes the Figo, Fiesta, Fiesta ST, Ikon, Focus, Focus ST, EcoSport, Everest, Kuga, Ranger, Tourneo and Transit continues to perform exceptionally well. The Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria assembles light commercial vehicles that are supplemented with passenger vehicle imports from a number of different countries.<\/p>\n
The Struandale Engine Plant assemble the Duratorq TDCi engine mainly for the new Ranger built at the Silverton Assembly Plant and also export to Ford engine assembly plants in Thailand and Argentina.<\/p>\n

\nMethod improvement: Develop and specify methods that will improve material flow and reduce
\nwaste of Direct Labour, Indirect Labour and Mobile Equipment through the application of sound Industrial Engineering principles and practises.
\nMaterial Flow: Support plans to establish lean, Just- In- Time, material pull systems (Layouts, Facilities,
\nEquipment, Methods)
\nLayout: Develop Layouts and assist with installation of equipment (including equipment positioning) etc.
\nStandards:Establish work standards to optimize the use of people, material and equipment.
\nChange Implementation: Support NWG Leaders as well as supporting the Manage to Change (MTC) process from a cycle time, material handling, ergonomic and productivity standpoint.
\nPackaging: Develop and improve packaging standards for internal and export components. Support incoming packaging approvals.
\nProjects: Support layout developments and support cycle time, launch curve, Hours per unit (HPU) and Ergo studies. Support New Model Program (NMP) Launches.
\nGFPS: Initiate roll out of Global Ford Production System within Engineering and support roll out in the
