{"id":18072,"date":"2014-06-12T12:55:22","date_gmt":"2014-06-12T10:55:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=18072"},"modified":"2014-06-12T12:55:22","modified_gmt":"2014-06-12T10:55:22","slug":"sub-editor-vacancy-etv-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/sub-editor-vacancy-etv-south-africa.html","title":{"rendered":"Sub Editor Vacancy at eTV South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reporting to the Online Editor eNCA Division, your Key Performance Areas will include:<\/p>\n<p>Writing web-ready copy<\/p>\n<p>Producing accurate and editorially sound copy from a variety of sources<\/p>\n<p>Watching wire services and news feeds for the day\u2019s news and breaking news<\/p>\n<p>Converting broadcast scripts into web-appropriate stories<\/p>\n<p>Flagging changes and major moves in stories<\/p>\n<p>Liaising with the Duty Editor and taking direction on delivery priorities<\/p>\n<p>Sub editing, ensuring copy is factually accurate, grammatically correct, free of spelling errors and visually stimulating<\/p>\n<p>Writing headlines<\/p>\n<p>Uploading stories and visual content into the content management system<\/p>\n<p>Ensuring stories are tagged and effectively linked to other relevant content<\/p>\n<p>Assisting in deciding on how best to visually illustrate stories<\/p>\n<p>Assisting with the maintenance of and contribution to social network profiles<\/p>\n<p>Occasionally deputising for the Duty Editor<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Computer literate<\/li>\n<li>At least 5 year journalism experience<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrable interest in and passion for hard news<\/li>\n<li>Sound editorial judgement<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of online news and new media<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of social media<\/li>\n<li>Excellent English<\/li>\n<li>Strong writing skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong subbing skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong visual sense<\/li>\n<li>A passion for story telling<\/li>\n<li>Strong understanding of journalistic ethics<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work very quickly without sacrificing accuracy<\/li>\n<li>Good grasp of legal issues around broadcast and online media<\/li>\n<li>Strong work ethic, and drive to deliver flawless outcomes<\/li>\n<li>Good sense of humour, and robust nature<\/li>\n<li>Solutions- and outcomes-orientated<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work under pressure making deadlines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Advantageous<\/p>\n<p>Familiarity with one or more web content management systems<\/p>\n<p>Good contact base.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Note: The successful candidate will be required to work irregular and long hours, including weekends, public holidays and standby shifts.<\/p>\n<p>Closing date: 13 June 2014.<br \/>\nIf you possess the criteria and qualifications as stated, please send your application form together with a detailed CV to the HR Department at jobs@enca.com<\/p>\n<p>Only shortlisted applicants who meet the criteria will be contacted.
