REQUIREMENTS : BTech degree \/ National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Two to three years
\nrelevant experience. Valid drivers licence .Knowledge: Detailed OHS and OHS
\nEngineering disciplines, Relevant sections of COIDA as it relates to IOD,
\nDetailed legal requirements, particularly relating to enforcement , Departmental
\nPolicies and procedures , Department directives and guidelines , Batho Pele
\nprinciples , Statutory organizations that requires accreditation in terms of OHSA,
\nApplicable codes incorporated in terms of OHSA. Skills: Planning and
\nOrganising, Computer literacy , Mentoring and coaching, Communication ,
\nTelephone etiquette and public presentation , Report writing including completion
\nof written undertakings, Summons, forms and inspection reports , Conflict
\nresolution, Mediation and facilitation, Analytical, Investigation in respect of
\ncomplaints, Accidents and fraud.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
DUTIES : Plan and conduct substantive occupational inspections with the aim of ensuring
\ncompliance with labour legislation, namely OHS Act. Plan and execute
\ninvestigations independently on reported incidents and complaints pertaining to
\ncontravention of OHS and enforce as and when necessary including making
\npreparations for and appearing in court as state witness. Plan and conduct
\nallocated proactive (including Blitz) inspections regularly to monitor compliance
\nwith OHSA including compilation and consolidation of reports emanating from
\nsuch inspections. Plan and conduct advocacy campaigns on all OHSA
\nindependently, analyse impact thereof, consolidate and compile report.
\nContribute at a higher level to planning, drafting and maintenance of regional
\ninspection plans and reports including execution of analysis and compilation of
\nconsolidated reports on allocated inspections, incidents and complaints. Assist
\nwith the induction and mentoring of new inspectors.<\/p>\n
