{"id":19306,"date":"2014-09-26T12:46:11","date_gmt":"2014-09-26T10:46:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=19306"},"modified":"2016-11-11T12:40:55","modified_gmt":"2016-11-11T10:40:55","slug":"csir-gis-analyst-town-planner-internship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/csir-gis-analyst-town-planner-internship.html","title":{"rendered":"CSIR GIS Analyst \/ Town Planner Internship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CSIR Built Environment unit has a vacant position for an Internship: GIS Analyst \/ Town Planner in the Planning Support Systems competence area.<\/p>\n<p>The CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research) is a leading scientific and technology research organisation, implementing projects throughout Africa and making a difference in people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n<p>The incumbent will be expected to contribute to research work in the fields of urban and regional planning and regional development with a specific focus on GIS-based spatial analysis and planning support.<\/p>\n<p>This position is based in Stellenbosch.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Key responsibilities:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Undertake on the job GIS Accessibility training.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain GIS databases.<\/li>\n<li>Undertake GIS mapping.<\/li>\n<li>Establish and update reference databases for projects outputs.<\/li>\n<li>Produce tables and writing basic reports.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct literature searches.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct desktop research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Qualifications, skills and experience:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Bachelor\u2019s degree with specialisation in GIS and subjects related to geography, town and regional planning, development planning or related fields.<\/li>\n<li>Must be proficient in the use of GIS and database.
