REQUIREMENTS : A relevant 3 year Diploma\/Degree in Law\/Social\/Science\/Public Management and
\nAdministration\/Policy or an equivalent NQF level 6 qualification with experience
\nwithin Immigration\/Law Enforcement of which 2 years should be at management
\nlevel. Knowledge of the migration control activity in the Port of Entry. Knowledge
\nof the patrol activity and inspection (Searching, sounding of conveyers).
\nKnowledge of the Immigration Act, Refugees Act, Criminal Prosecution Act,
\nPublic Service Regulations Act , Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and
\nthe South African Constitution. Understanding of International treaties. Computer
\nliteracy. Client innovation and service delivery improvement orientation, within the
\ncontext of legal frameworks. Sound problem solving, data collation, analysis,
\ntrend identification and report writing skills. Good written and verbal
\ncommunication. Proven business partnering and stakeholder engagement.
\nHonesty and Integrity and interrogation skills, swimming skills. Security oriented.
\nTeam player, decisive. Shift work and willingness to work irregular hours. A valid
\ndriver\u2019s licence and willingness to travel. Military experience will serve as an
\nadded advantage.<\/p>\n

DUTIES : The successful candidate will be responsible for, amongst others, the following
\nspecific tasks: Provide leadership, guidance and advice to immigration
\ncomponent of the Port of Entry. Ensuring implementation and monitoring of
\nprogress of all immigration matters reflected on the office business and
\noperational plans. Effective management of resources and personnel. Effectively
\nimplement policies, processes and procedures in order to enhance service
\ndelivery at the Port of Entry. Maintain statistics, identify trends and analyse data
\nin order to assess the number of people entering the Port so that effect strategies
\ncan be developed. Ensure proper conducting of clearance of travellers on arrival
\nand departure. Ensure that all travellers who contravened the validity of their
\npermits are issued with prescribed administrative fine. Issue cross border permits
\nto all eligible travellers in accordance with the Immigration Act. Issue emergency
\ntravel documents to all eligible RSA citizens in accordance with SA Passport and
\nTravel Documents Act. Determine guarantees and deposits. Deal with asylum
\nseekers in terms of Refugees Act. Ensure Clearance of conveyers after arrival
\nand before departure. Issue penalties to conveyers that contravene the\u00a0Immigration Act. Detect signs and traces in travel documents to establish any\u00a0migration violation and other illegal activities. Ensure effective processing of
\ninadmissible or undesirable persons on arrival who are refused to enter the
\ncountry. Ensure effective processing of prohibited persons on departure who are
\nrefused to leave the country. Ensure effective processing of castaways,
\nstowaways and deserters. Facilitate the prosecution of persons travelling with
\nfalsified South African documents. Ensure that persons working at the broader
\nlines are working legally in the country. Ensure visibility at the border line and
\nconduct searches on conveyers during arrival and departure. Conduct inspections
\nat the border line to ensure that conveyer don\u2019t contravene the Immigration Act.
\nIdentify conveyers that contravene the Immigration Act on arrival. Detect signs
\nand traces in conveyer to establish any migration violation and other illegal
\nactivities. Supervising, exercising and regulating control over activities of
\nsubordinate.<\/p>\n
