Johannesburg Water Recruitment Opportunity<\/strong><\/p>\n Analyst (2 Posts) (Ref. A\/2014)<\/p>\n Primary purpose: <\/strong><\/p>\n To conduct complex analyses in the laboratory and ensure the reliability and accuracy of results generated.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Key responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Plan and control the daily lab analyses according to sample rosters<\/p>\n \u2022 Conduct the daily analysis of samples<\/p>\n \u2022 Be\u00a0available for weekend duty on a rotational basis and for emergency analyses after hours when required<\/p>\n \u2022 Work safely by adhering to all\u00a0relevant safety procedures as stipulated by the company and the OHS Act<\/p>\n \u2022 Conduct analyses using complex specialised instrumentation such\u00a0as GC-MS, ICP-MS, ICP-OEP, FIA, etc and techniques<\/p>\n \u2022 Evaluate laboratory data on a daily basis using relevant mathematical and statistical\u00a0analysis<\/p>\n \u2022 Interpret results of such analyses and investigate any anomalies found and report to the laboratory manager<\/p>\n \u2022 Undertake research\u00a0under the supervision of the manager and initiate development work if and when required<\/p>\n \u2022 Provide training to laboratory staff (including\u00a0interns) as per SOPs and analytical methods<\/p>\n \u2022 Maintain and troubleshoot complex analytical equipment<\/p>\n \u2022 Assist Customer Liaison Officer in\u00a0dealing with clients and receiving samples and ensure efficient communication with all stakeholders<\/p>\n \u2022 Implement the QA system by following\u00a0SOPs and methods<\/p>\n \u2022 Maintain and improve the QA system<\/p>\n \u2022 Keep abreast of legislation and standards.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The candidate for this post should possess the following attributes:<\/p>\n \u2022 BSc Chemistry\/Applied Chemistry (NQF 7) or National Diploma\u00a0in Analytical Chemistry (NQF 6)<\/p>\n \u2022 2 years\u2019 chemical analysis experience in a laboratory, preferably in a water analysis or environmental analysis<\/p>\n \u2022 Working knowledge of ISO 17025.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n Applications for this post: E-mail: jw.bulkwastewater@jwater.co.za<\/p>\n Correspondence will be conducted with short-listed candidates only.
