The South African Police Service invites applications from all races and gender for enlistment in the Basic Police Development Learning Programme from young, energetic, intelligent, physically and mentally fit individuals, dedicated to serving their country by pursuing career in policing.<\/p>\n
Young South African men and women who apply to be appointed as a member in terms of the South African Police Service Act, 1995 (Act No 68 of 1995) must:<\/p>\n
Apply on the form determined by the National Commissioner and affirm under oath or by way of solemn declaration that the particulars furnished in the application, are the truth and correct \u2660 Be a South African citizen of which documentary proof must be furnished \u2660 Be at least eighteen (18) and under thirty (30) years of age of which documentary proof must be furnished \u2660 Be in a possession of a Grade 12 school certificate or National Certificate (Vocational) Safety in Society of which documentary proof must be furnished (2014 Matriculants are welcome to apply and before enlistment proof of successful completion of Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) must be submitted. As an interima arrangement, kindly submit proof of last school report \u2660 \u00a0Submit himself \/ herself to a physical medical examination as determined \u00a0by the National Commissioner and must be found to be physically and mentally fit for appointment in the post for which he \/ she applies \u2660 \u00a0Undergo a psychological assessment as determined by the National Commissioner and be found to comply with the profile of a police official \u00a0\u2660 \u00a0Be proficient in at least two (2) of the official languages, of which one (1) must be English \u2660 \u00a0Be prepared to take the oath of office \u2660 Be prepared to undergo such training as determined by the National Commissioner \u2660 Not have any tattoo marks of which will be visible when wearing a vest, shirt or shorts and not be irreconcilable with the objectives of the Service \u2660 \u00a0Have no previous criminal convictions, and \/ or pending criminal, civil, disciplinary cases and such person will allow his or her fingerprints to be taken and allow background checks to be made \u2660 Not have been declared unfit to possess a firearm \u2660 \u00a0Be prepared to serve anywhere in the Republic \u2660 Preference will be given to applicants who are in possession of at least a light vehicle driver\u2019s licence. Body Mass Index of less than 30 \/ waist circumference \u2264 102 cm (males) and \u2264 88 cm (females). All applicants will be subjected to fitness, psychometric and medical evaluation and will be interviewed during the recruitment, selection and enlistment process. The SAPS will also verify the criminal record, qualifications, driver\u2019s licence, citizenship and residential address of each applicant.<\/p>\n
Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening and fingerprint verification.<\/p>\n
Applicants who previously served in a Government Department and who were dismissed as a result of misconduct are excluded.<\/p>\n
Applicants will undergo a Final Selection Phase (\u201cGrooming Phase\u201d) at a venue and period as determined by the National Commissioner, to select the successful applicants.<\/p>\n
In the view of the physical demands of the Basic Police Development learning Programme, applicants with chronic diseases, physical impairments or any other health condition that may lead to interruptions of the training programme will be excluded from participation in the programme. Such applicants\u2019 failure to disclose the conditions will result in their withdrawal from the programme on the determination thereof. In accordance with the SAPS Dress Order, applicants who have visible tattoos when wearing uniform will be excluded.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Basic Police Development learning Programme<\/strong><\/p>\n Selected applicants will participate in a Basic Development Learning Programme (hereafter as the Programme) for a period of twenty four 24 months. The programme will consist of three phases:<\/p>\n During the Academy pe of the Program, the service will provide free training gear, meals and accommodation to the police trainee. During the Field Police Development Phase of the programme, the police trainee responsible for his \/ her own meals accommodation.<\/p>\n Trainees will also will also receive medical aid benefits for the duration of the Twenty four (24.) month Basic Training Learning Programme. Upon successful completion Basic Training Learning Programme trainees will be considered for permanent appointment a members of the SAPS. Remuneration (on completion of the training period) will be on first notch of Band A (currently R132 840 pa). In addition to this, \u00a0appointees will receive the applicable service benefits.<\/p>\n These are distributed as follows:<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n See page 2 of this advert for details on how to submit an application<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Core Functions<\/strong><\/p>\n Successful candidates e as functional police officials. As such, they will be<\/p>\n employed to a or more of the following functions: prevent, combat and investigate crime \u2660 Maintain public order \u2660 Protect and secure the inhabitants of the Republic and their property \u2660 Uphold and enforce the law.<\/p>\n 613 Entry-level posts are available in the Basic Training Learning Programme.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n Complete an application form form in your own writing. These application forms can be obtained from your nearest SAPS Recruitment Office or HR Office at local Police Station as well as SAPS website. Applicants must take note of the fact that application forms and employment are not for sale and any payment offered by an applicant or promises provided in this regard will be investigated and may lead to criminal prosecution. Applicants may report such incidents to the National Anti-corruption Line at 0800 701 701. Specify the post which your are applying for. Make sure you have signed your application form in front of the Commissioner of Oath.<\/p>\n Attach certified copies of your: ID\u00a0\u2666 Driver\u2019s licence \u2666 Matric \/ Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or equivalent qualification)\u00a0\u2666 Additional qualifications\u00a0\u2666 Proof of residence.<\/p>\n Applicants who are subjected to the psychometric assessment and fit the profile will be requested, when undergoing the fitness assessment, to submit four (4) colour ID photographs, of which one (1) will be used for the application form, one (1)\u00a0 for medical assessment, one (1) for fitness assessment, one (1) for the interview form and one (1) for medical assessment.<\/p>\n You are advised to apply for the posts within your province, close to your nearest place of residence.
