Mechnical Design Engineer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"profile_header\">Job Details<\/div>\n<p>Employer: The Focus Group<\/p>\n<p>Take full responsibility in achieving the outcomes and competencies required by the formal training and development program in order to qualify within the stipulated timeframe<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Performance Areas (KPA\u2019s)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ability<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Training and Development Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Being able to demonstrate ability, proficiency, knowledge and understanding to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do experiential training in accordance with a formal training and development program for a period of 36 months.<\/li>\n<li>The trainee must prove to Management that the development program is achieved and must complete the development program successfully to become eligible for upgrade to Engineer status.<\/li>\n<li>Should the trainee not achieve the requirements within this period, then\u00a0\u00a0 Rotek \/ Roshcon reserves the right to allow an extension of this period, or to re-allocate the trainee based on the company requirements, or to terminate the contract.<\/li>\n<li>After the trainee has qualified, the company may terminate the contract, or enter into negotiations for a permanent employment contract.<\/li>\n<li>Should the company offer the trainee a permanent position it will be expected of the trainee to work back 3 years, or to work back the extended period that was allowed.\u00a0 Should the trainee terminate the service, or if the trainees\u2019 services are terminated due to discipline or performance during the training period or during the work back period, then all training costs, and training related transport and accommodation costs incurred by Rotek \/ Roshcon in terms of the experiential training shall immediately become payable by the trainee to Rotek \/ Roshcon.<\/li>\n<li>The roles and responsibilities of the Engineering function are outlined in the specific job description for that function.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure supporting documents for measurement including Training program, Portfolio of evidence, weekly and monthly reports, minutes of meetings and action plans are kept up to date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Comply with Safety Health Environment and Quality Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Being able to demonstrate ability, proficiency, knowledge and understanding to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Rotek \/ Roshcon\u2019s SHE System requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Comply with the Eskom Plant Safety Regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Stop unsafe work activities and report to the Project \/ Site Manager for rectification.<\/li>\n<li>Comply with policies, procedures and instructions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Customer and Interdepartmental Relationships<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Being able to demonstrate ability, proficiency, knowledge and understanding to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Liaise closely with the customer Turbine Engineering representative and OEM representative in all areas of the project relative to areas of responsibility.<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with clients and site staff regarding improvement of plant availability, reliability and performance.<\/li>\n<li>Foster and maintain sound relationships with members of the Engineering, Project Services, Steam Maintenance and Works Service Departments to ensure Engineering and Business objectives are achieved.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate passion and willingness to learn in dealing with Superiors and all Rotek \/ Roshcon\u2019s entities, which could include individual direct customer communication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Performance and Development<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Being able to demonstrate ability, proficiency, knowledge and understanding to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Meet monthly with Seniors and reviews progress against training program.<\/li>\n<li>Compile and implement corrective action plans to improve performance and achieve key targets.<\/li>\n<li>Meets every 6 months with Seniors and via the PDR system review personal performance and compiles corrective action plans to improve personal performance.<\/li>\n<li>Enhance technical knowledge on the plant and equipment to ensure high level of Engineering confidence.<\/li>\n<li>Encourage self to feature in seminars, papers and conferences.<\/li>\n<li>Encourage self to become respected specialists in the Industry field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"ctl00_contentPrimaryPlaceHolder_divCandReq\" class=\"profile_header\"><strong>Candidate Requirements<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Minimum Qualification Required<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Minimum Experience Required<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">BSc \/ BEng (Mechanical, Engineering)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">1 Year design experience<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Exposure to 3D scanning and FEA is advantageous.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"EN-US\">Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Attributes) Required\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><strong><span lang=\"EN-US\">Skills:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Technical competency in Mechanical Engineering<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Analytical and problem solving skills<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">High level investigative skills and technical negotiating skills<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Excellent time Management<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Excellent computer literacy skills<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Communication skills<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Leadership
