The closing date for undergraduate applications is 31 July 2015. There is no closing date to submit applications to Mintek\u2019s Postgraduate Bursary Programme (for Masters Studies and above).<\/p>\n<h3>Undergraduate Bursary Programme<\/h3>\n<p>Mintek\u2019s Undergraduate Bursary Programme ensures a steady supply of trained and highly skilled technical people for Mintek to meet a major portion of company\u2019s\u00a0 operational, research and development manpower needs, and also to provide appropriately-skilled graduates to the broader South African minerals and metallurgy sector, as per Mintek\u2019s Mission Statement.<\/p>\n<p>The Mintek bursary covers the full payment of registration<strong> \u2660 <\/strong>tuition and residence fees<strong> \u2660 <\/strong>plus an allowance with a commitment to work at Mintek on a year-for-year basis.<\/p>\n<p>On completion of studies, bursars undergo intensive training is aimed at developing them into exceptional engineers\/scientists.<\/p>\n<h3>Who Qualifes?<\/h3>\n<p>Mintek has a strong interest in students who intend to pursue \/ are currently pursuing undergraduate degrees, honors degrees or B . Tech diplomas in the following fields * :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chemistry (Analytical or Geochemistry)<\/li>\n<li>Chemical Engineering (Minerals Processing option)<\/li>\n<li>Electrical Engineering (Process Control Systems or Electronics)<\/li>\n<li>Geology (majoring in Mineralogy, Petrology, Applied Geology or Economic Geology)<\/li>\n<li>Mathematics<\/li>\n<li>Mechanical Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Mining Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Physical Metallurgy \/ Materials Science<\/li>\n<li>Physics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>* Unfortunately Mintek does not provide bursaries to students studying towards their National Diplomas or students at year one (first year) of their study programme<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Postgraduate Bursary Programme<\/h3>\n<p>Mintek\u2019s Postgraduate Bursary Programme further equips undergraduates through the development of research methodology skills at the Masters level, followed by the generation of original research that contributes new knowledge to a field at the Doctorate level. Bursaries cover the full payment of registration, tuition and residence fees, plus an allowance with a commitment to work at Mintek on a month-for-month basis. Bursars are also given the opportunity to work closely with experts in their field of interest as well as in other disciplines.<\/p>\n<h3>Who Qualifes?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Mintek has a strong interest in students who intend to pursue \/ are currently pursuing postgraduate degrees or diplomas in the following fields :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Catalysis<\/li>\n<li>Chemistry (Analytical or Geochemistry)<\/li>\n<li>Extractive Metallurgy (Pyrometallurgy or Hydrometallurgy, including Bio \u2013 hydrometallurgy)<\/li>\n<li>Fuel Cells \u00b7 Geology (Mineralogy , Petrology, Applied Geology or Economic Geology)<\/li>\n<li>Mechanical Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Minerals Processing<\/li>\n<li>Mining Engineering<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Mining \u2013 Focused Environmental Compliance<\/li>\n<li>Nanoscience and Nanotechnology<\/li>\n<li>Physical Metallurgy<\/li>\n<li>Physics<\/li>\n<li>Precious Metal \u2013 Based drug Discovery<\/li>\n<li>Process Control Systems or Electronics ( Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Vacation Work<\/h3>\n<p>Mintek bursars are obliged to undertake vacation work at Mintek at the end of their first, second, and third undergraduate years for approximately 8 weeks. Vacation work affords Mintek the opportunity to impart to bursars the necessary knowledge, skills and experience that is needed for research, development and technology transfer to industry, and to evaluate them as potential employees.
