\nREQUIREMENTS : Representivity: Coloured, Indian, White Male \/Female candidates are encouraged
\nto apply A 3 year Diploma \/ Degree or a relevant NQF Level 6 qualification in
\nLaw, Social Science, Public Management and Administration or Policy studies
\nplus 3 years\u2019 experience within an Immigration\/Law Enforcement environment of
\nwhich one year should be at supervisory level and\/or a Grade 12 qualification
\nplus 5 years\u2019 experience within an Immigration\/Law Enforcement of which 2 years
\nshould be at supervisory level. Candidates with 5 years\u2019 experience in a Law
\nEnforcement environment with 3 years in a supervisory position will be
\nconsidered as having the required qualification. Relevant experience in
\nimmigration, Police, prosecution or military services is preferred. Experience in an
\nenforcement environment would be an advantage. Computer literacy. Good
\nliaison and interpersonal skills. Policy analysis, formulation and implementation
\nskills. Research and writing skills. Proven leadership skills are essential.
\nAnalytical and interpretation skills. Sound knowledge of key legislation
\nadministered by the Department as well as importance of immigration control to
\nthe development and stability of South Africa. Expected to work irregular hours
\nand under pressure. A valid driver\u2019s licence and willingness to travel is essential.
\nThe successful candidate will undergo 6 to 8 weeks training which will include an
\nunarmed combat module. Military, Police or Prosecution experience will serve as
\nan added advantage.<\/p>\n

DUTIES : The successful candidates will be responsible for amongst others, the following
\nspecific tasks: Giving management, guidance and advice to immigration
\ncomponent of the office in particular with regard to Inspectorate functions.
\nConducting compliance investigations in terms of the legislation administered in
\nimmigration component. Responsible for the effective detection, detention and
\ndeportation of illegal foreign nationals. Monitoring and controlling immigration and
\nrefugee affairs functions in relation to the validity of applications submitted and
\ndocuments presented. Oversee all investigations relating to immigration services
\nand the acquisition of documentation. Ensure all inspectorate investigations are
\ninvestigated fairly and with the highest applicable human rights standards. Ensure
\nthat cases referred to the office for investigation are correctly allocated,
\nprioritised, tracked and completed with a final report for management approval.
\nPresent and assist inspectorate staff within the office to present evidence in court
\ncases on Immigration matters or the illegal facilitation of Immigration status by
\nSouth African and other nationals. Ensure the office is able to effectively trace
\nillegal foreign nationals within the jurisdiction of the office area. Supervising,
\nexercising and regulating control over activities of subordinate and ensure that all
\ninspectorate staff in the office are able to carry out their mandate effectively by
\nidentifying training needs and relevant support. Conduct and lead law
\nenforcement operations. Support security cluster departments in law enforcement
\ninvestigations and operations. Addressing and finding solutions to problems
\npertaining to service delivery as far as Immigration Services is concerned. Cooperate
\nand assist the Counter Corruption Unit in matters relating to corrupt
\nacquisition of immigration services and South African documentation by foreign
\nnationals participate in the effective management of the local home affairs office
\nwith managers from other departmental branches in the office. Ensuring
\nimplementation and monitoring of progress of all immigration matters reflected on
\nthe business and operational plans. Ensuring the adherence to policy and
\nlegislation regarding immigration matters. Compiling memoranda and
\nsubmissions. Monitoring and coordinating training of immigration personnel. Must
\naccept scheduled after hours stand by duty every week. Whilst on standby, must
\nbe readily available at all times at any hour of the day or night to attend to
\nrequests for services on call.
