REQUIREMENTS : National Diploma in Environmental Management or Natural Sciences. Minimum of
\ntwo years post qualification experience in the water and waste water environment
\nwill serve as an added advantage. A valid driver\u2019s license. Computer skills
\nincluding MS Office suite and related computer packages. Excellent presentation
\nskills. Good communication skills. A solid understanding of the National Water
\nAct, 1998, the Water Services Act, 1997, and related Environmental legislation.
\nRecommendations: Dispute resolution skills. Be able to manage programs and
\nprojects. Be able to negotiate. Self motivated with good interpersonal
\ncommunication skills at all stakeholder levels. A good understanding of the
\nDepartment\u2019s Validation and Verification process.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
DUTIES : Implement and monitor compliance of water programs in the water sector. Plans
\nand coordinate intervention for poor performance in the water sector. Apply
\npolicies strategies on Water Regulation to ensure that principles and legal
\naspects are complied with by all water users as set up in the national Water Act
\nand National Water Services Act. Provide professional advice to Local
\nAuthorities, mines, industries and the agricultural sectors. Evaluate Environmental
\nManagement Plans, Environmental Impact Assessments to ensure protection of
\nthe water resources. Address non compliances to conditions of Water Use
\nlicenses. Perform general and audit inspections throughout all sectors within the
\nFree State Provincial Office\u2019s area of responsibility. Applicant must be willing to
\ntravel long distances and work long hours.<\/p>\n
