{"id":22642,"date":"2015-05-13T08:44:17","date_gmt":"2015-05-13T06:44:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=22642"},"modified":"2016-11-11T14:45:30","modified_gmt":"2016-11-11T12:45:30","slug":"dept-of-correctional-services-learnership-programme-2015-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/dept-of-correctional-services-learnership-programme-2015-2016.html","title":{"rendered":"Dept Of Correctional Services: Learnership Programme 2015 \/ 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The opportunity to acquire skills, knowledge and workplace experience in the field of Corrections and earn a stipend of R 3500. 00 for the twelve months duration of the learnership.<\/p>\n<p>Theory The DCS is looking for persons from various communities, interests and appropriate qualifications to enter into Further Education and Training Certificate in Corrections Services Learnership (NQF Level 4). The learners will be trained in the areas of rehabilitation of offenders through correction and human development in secure, safe and humane detention or under the community based correctional supervision. English will be used as the medium of instruction.<\/p>\n<p>Basic enlistment requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>South Africans who are in possession of the Grade 12\/Standards 10; or<\/li>\n<li>South Africans who have successfully completed the National Certificate in Vocational Studies (NQF Level 4); or<\/li>\n<li>South Africans who have successfully completed a further Education and Training Certificate NQF (Level 4)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>NB: Candidates with an additional qualification(s) such as Trade or Occupational-based Certificate, Diploma or Degree related to Corrections\/ Security shall be given preference. Additional qualification(s) shall not be recognized for the stipend paid or for future remuneration purposes.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, applicants must be South Africans who:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Are least 18-35 years;<\/li>\n<li>Have strong character;<\/li>\n<li>Are prepared to allow their fingerprints to be taken to allow the background check-ups and enquiries to be done;<\/li>\n<li>Are law-abiding citizens and are without criminal records (particulars of the pending criminal cases must be provided during the interviewing process).<\/li>\n<li>Are prepared to subject themselves to interviews and selection conducted by DCS.<\/li>\n<li>Are prepared to disclose information and allow DCS to verify their submitted qualifications, and citizenship.<\/li>\n<li>Are prepared to be subject to psychometric testing by the DCS.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The FET Certificate in Corrections Services Learnership<\/p>\n<p>This Learnership comprises \u00b1 30% of work which is theory or instructional learning and \u00b1 70% which is workplace learning in nature.<\/p>\n<p>The learnership is outcome-based and is intended to contribute towards addressing the skills shortage in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The Corrections Services Learnership is based on a legally binding agreement between the employer, learner and service provider.<\/p>\n<p>The Learnership Programme shall be presented for a period of one year consisting of:<\/p>\n<p>A \u00b130% intensive instructional learning theory which is inclusive of firearm, physical training and self defense will take place at designated accredited DCS colleges. Furthermore free accommodation meals, training material, uniform (field wear &amp; tracksuit) shall be provided during this training phase. The obligatory theoretical training requires the learner to be strictly accommodated on full time at the Training College.<\/p>\n<h3>Workplace Training<\/h3>\n<p>This is a \u00b1 70% workplace learning that shall take place at the Correctional and Social Reintegration Centres.<\/p>\n<p>During this phase, learners shall continue receiving a stipend. The learners shall be responsible for accommodation, meals and transport.<\/p>\n<p>No pension fund, housing allowances, housing subsidy, danger allowance, medical aid nor overtime shall be provided by the employer during the theoretical as well as during the practical training.<\/p>\n<p>The leaner shall be regarded as competent after the successful completion of the instructional learning phase, the workplace learning phase, the final submission of the Portfolio of Evidence (POE) and the successful external verification by SASSETA.<\/p>\n<p>Any contravention or deviation from the learnership agreement during the twelve months period shall dealt with by the DCS in accordance with sections 17 and 18 of the Skills Development Act, 97 of 1998.<\/p>\n<p>It should be borne in mind that after successful completion of your learnership you will receive your FET Certificate in Corrections Services: NQF 4. However the Department of Correctional Services does not guarantee permanent employment.<\/p>\n<h3>How To Apply<\/h3>\n<p>Complete the application form in your own handwriting. This application forms is obtainable from your nearest Management Area \/ Correctional Services Offices \/ Correctional Centres or the Regional or Head Office. The <a class=\"apply\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dcs.gov.za\/forms\/Learnership%20Application%20Form.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">forms can be obtained from the DCS website (www.dcs.gov.za)<\/a> and please take note that these forms are not for sale. Report any form of corruption to Department Investigation Unit Hotline 0800 701 701 or fax number 012 323 7901<\/p>\n<p>Specify the learnership post which you are applying for (e.g. Gauteng Region: Leeuwkop (Ref 1\/2015). Make sure that you do not leave empty spaces and the application must be signed by the applicant (not by a proxy, agent not representative of the applicant).<\/p>\n<p>Attach certified copies of your certificates and Identity document that are not older than 3 months. No late, incomplete or unsigned application forms shall be accepted. Furthermore, photocopies of completed forms, faxed or e-mailed applications shall not be accepted.<\/p>\n<p>Taking into consideration that you have to provide your own transport and accommodation during your experiential learning, you are therefore advised to apply for learnership enrolment within the Regional Management Area close to where you stay.
