The candidate must be able to perform a technical lead role, driving the architecture, design, development and implementation of systems in a collaborative and professional environment. The ideal candidate would be passionate about technology and their research of cutting-edge technologies must be ongoing. They should also be more confident in older, more proven technologies in order to efficiently deliver.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Qualifications<\/strong>: <\/span><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Computer studies related degree\/diploma or relevant equivalent e.g. Java SE, Java EE certifications.<\/span><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>Knowledge: <\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Experience across a variety of web and data persistence management frameworks<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Solid project experience (exposure to full project lifecycle) in at least 3-4 projects of at least 3 months in duration<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">At least 2 years relevant work experience at an intermediate level<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Skills &amp; experience: <\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><\/p>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Ability to plan and estimate development effort<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Ability to perform a technical developer role<\/li>\n<li>Ability to produce relevant technical documentation<\/li>\n<li>Architecture experience advantageous<\/li>\n<li>OO design and development, with use of design patterns and UML<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Solid understanding of Java platform framework fundamentals<\/span><\/li>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><\/p>\n<li>Solid experience with a number of IDEs, DBMS and Application Servers preferable<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Solid experience with Open Source server components<\/span><\/li>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><\/p>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Data modelling\/design and database development<\/span><\/li>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><\/p>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Development in teams using an SCM tool, e.g. SVN, CVS<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<p><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Key Performance Areas: <\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><\/p>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Internal team feedback<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Project delivery (productivity and quality against baseline)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Client feedback (in terms of the software delivered)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Contribution to software development practice (methodology, tools, research) <\/span><\/li>\n<p><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\">&lt;&lt; <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bsg.co.za\/web\/guest\/submit_your_cv\">Click here to apply.<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An opportunity has arisen for a person with solid experience in building Java Enterprise systems to join the Java Open Standard Solutions delivery team at BSG.
