REQUIREMENTS : A National diploma (T\/N\/S Streams) in the built environment\/
\nElectrical\/Mechanical engineering with three (3) years relevant experience or
\nN3 and a passed trade test in the built environment with five (5) Years
\nrelevant experience. A B-Tech in the Built environment\/ Electrical\/Mechanical
\nengineering. Registration as a Professional Engineering Technician
\n\/Technologist\/ Candidate Construction Project Manager will be an added
\nadvantage. Broad based buildings maintenance experience and ability to
\nimplement pro-active\/preventative maintenance system. A valid driver\u2019s
\nlicense is compulsory. Knowledge And Skills: Good management and
\ninterpersonal skills. Computer literacy. \u2022Understanding of Occupational
\nHealth and Safety Act (OHS) Act, Conflict management skills. Client
\norientation and customer focus skills. Self-management. Report writing skills.
\nKnowledge of Building regulations. Knowledge of quality control and South
\nAfrican national Standard. Quality control of all Construction Works.
\nManagement of people, risk, change and the promotion of teamwork<\/p>\n

DUTIES : Manage the process for the identification of needs, new services and
\nrequirements for minor new work and repairs to existing work by ensuring
\nthat customer complaints are investigated and follow up. Ensure that the
\noutputs are aligned to departmental strategic goals and objective and satisfy
\nclient\u2019s needs. Maintain policy for standard construction, maintenance
\noperation specifications for all buildings services rendered on behalf of the
\ndepartment and client departments. Evaluate installation activities to ensure
\nthat the designs and specifications are executed and performed to acceptable
\nstandards. Management of planned and unplanned maintenance projects
\nunder the supervision of the Deputy Director Technical Services. Monitor the
\nperformance and management of building inspectorate in terms of time, cost,
\nquality and socio-economic objectives. Administration of contractors for
\nemerging and established contractors. Design and develop documentation for
\nin-house projects as and when required. Travel and visit construction sites on
\na regular basis for control inspections. Monitor building programmes and
\nreport to management on a regular basis for control inspections. Monitor
\nbuilding programmes and report to management on a regular basis. Coordinate
\nthe conditional surveying of buildings. Co-ordinate and check tender
\ndocuments, valuation for payment certificates, prepare estimates and call for
\nquotations for work to be done. Be prepared to travel and overnight within the
\ndistrict as and required in the course of duty. Supervise the performance and
\nconduct of subordinates through inter alia: Enter into agreements with subordinates
\nin terms of the PMDS policy. Identify skills development needs and
\nprovide training and development opportunities of subordinates. Provide
\nadvice and guidance on the interpretation and application of legislation,
\npolicies and procedures<\/p>\n
