REQUIREMENTS : Grade 12 and, an appropriate three (3) year national tertiary qualification or
\ndiploma\/degree in a communications related field. 0-2 year\u2019s relevant
\nexperience within the media and communication environment. Drivers\u2019
\nlicense will be an added advantage. Good understanding of relevant
\nlegislations and prescripts including systems and procedures of the Public
\nService. Excellent working knowledge of writing, sub-editing and
\nunderstanding of the media environment in Gauteng and South Africa.
\nResearch, scripting, content management, editing, proof reading and project
\nmanagement skills. Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite). Excellent
\ncommunication (verbal and written), presenting and reporting skills. Must
\nhave good interpersonal relations. Must be able to work under pressure and
\nput up extra hours where necessary.<\/p>\n

DUTIES : Provide an efficient and effective communication support service to the
\ninstitution. Implement Public Relation\/communication strategies in line with
\nthe strategic objective of the Department\u2019s communication strategy. Manage
\nmarketing and branding of the institution. Support Programme Coordinators
\nto facilitate Public Relations functions in the institution. Co-lead all internal\u00a0and external communication initiatives of the institution. Market and liaise with
\nthe media. Co-ordinate production of departmental publications. Market and
\nco-ordinate hospital\u2019s events. Draft briefing notes for press briefings. Draft
\npress statement, media invitations and media responses. Maintain the media
\ndatabase on a regular basis. Provide monthly reports. Maintain the media
\ndatabase on a regular basis. Maintain institution\u2019s newsletter and electronic
\nwebsite. Write regular opinion pieces for the department and promote
\ndepartmental programs in the media. Supervise, develop and manage
\nemployee\u2019s performance in accordance with the Employee Performance
\nManagement and Development System.<\/p>\n
