ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER PRODUCTION GRADE A: COASTAL
\nDEVELOPMENT AND PROTECTION REF NO: OC16\/2015

\nCENTRE : Western Cape<\/p>\n
REQUIREMENTS : A National Diploma\/Degree in Environmental Management \/Natural
\nSciences\/Coastal Management and relevant experience. Knowledge and
\nunderstanding of institutional arrangements and the legal regime pertaining to
\ncoastal management. Knowledge and understanding of coastal management
\nprocesses and principles. Knowledge and understanding of the functioning of
\ncoastal ecosystems and the impacts of human activity on those systems.
\nKnowledge of Integrated Environmental Management and Environmental Impact
\nAssessment. Knowledge of the White Paper for Sustainable Coastal
\nDevelopment in SA. Knowledge of successive drafts of the Coastal Management
\nBill. Knowledge of the Off-road vehicle regulations, their historical context and
\nimplementation.<\/p>\n
DUTIES : Permitting of Off-Road Vehicle Use in the Coastal Area. Receiving of permit
\napplications. Requesting comments from relevant bodies if required. Provide
\nsupport to the functioning of the ORV Task Group. Receiving of permit
\napplications. Requesting comments from relevant bodies if required. Qualitative
\nreview of documents received from the applicant. Requesting additional
\ninformation from the applicant if required. Finalisation of submissions for
\napproval. Attend verbal and nonverbal enquiries. Evaluation and provision of
\ninputs on Coastal development proposals, Coastal Environmental Impact
\nAssessment Reports and related reports. Monitored and evaluated coastal
\ndevelopment in relation to the potential impact to the environment and
\ncompliance with coastal legislation. Provid comments and inputs into EIA reports.
\nProvid advice on developments along the South African coast. Provid monthly
\nreports with recommendation on the EIA proposals. Conduct Site Inspection and
\nproduc inspection reports. Comment on documents as required. Provide inputs,
\ncomments and advice on ORV and Sea Fishery Act issues when required or
\nrequested. Provide inputs on relevant documents and reports. Assist with
\nmanagement of the ORV and Sea Fishery Act databases. Assisting with
\nmaintenance and updating of ORV databases. Comprehensive record of all
\napplications received. List of applications currently being processed. List of
\nissued permits and exemptions.<\/p>\n
