REQUIREMENTS : 4-year Bachelor\u2019s degree in Agriculture Economics\/3-year degree plus Honours in
\nAgricultural Economics plus appropriate experience in agricultural marketing and\/or
\ninternational trade and information\/data management (collection, analysis, interpretation and
\nformulation of recommendations) (you are requested to furnish a credit certificate and\/or\u00a0statement of results) \u2022 Understanding of the market linkage programme \u2022 Knowledge of
\ninternational trade agreements \u2022 Knowledge and understanding of food safety standards \u2022
\nGeneral knowledge of import and export procedures and applicable international trade
\nagreements \u2022 Knowledge of the Customs and Exercise Act, B-BBEE Act and Agric-BEE
\nSector Code \u2022 Ability to interpret trade agreements and make recommendations \u2022 Ability to

DUTIES : Be responsible for the overall implementation of the market linkage programme by rendering
\nsupport services within the Sub-directorate, relating to the issuing of import and export
\npermits, administration of quotas and rebate schemes in terms of trade agreements and tariff
\npolicy, monitoring of the utilisation of permits, quotas and rebate schemes (for selected
\nproducts) \u2022 Administer the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and Trade, Develop and
\nCooperation Agreement (TDCT) market access import and export quotas in terms of
\napplicable trade agreements by means of issuing rebate permits \u2022 Monitor the utilisation of
\npermits, quotas and ensure compliance with permit conditions \u2022 Administer record and
\nmonitor payment fees for import and export permits \u2022 Enhance participation of new and Small
\nand Medium Enterprise (SME) traders in the rebate schemes \u2022 Manage an awareness
\ncampaign on compliance with Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) sector
\ncodes by beneficiaries of the Department\u2019s preferential market access programme \u2022
\nInvestigate market requirements and publish the information to facilitate access by
\nHistorically Disadvantaged Individuals (HDI) \u2022 Facilitate compliance with food safety
\nstandards and market requirements by producers and processors of agricultural, forestry and
\nfisheries products to enhance market access \u2022 Render a general office administrative service
\nto management of clients \u2022 Undertake ad hoc activities as delegated by management and
\nclients \u2022 Attend to enquiries related to the market linkage programme.
