REQUIREMENTS : A National Diploma or BSc degree in Agriculture with at least one of the following
\nsubjects as a major: Horticulture, Botany, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Plant
\nProduction\/Protection, Agronomy, and Microbiology (you are required to furnish a\u00a0credit certificate and\/or statement of results). Relevant technical knowledge of
\nand experience in law enforcement. Knowledge of the Agricultural Pests Act,
\n1983 (Act 36 of 1983) and related regulations and international agreements to
\nensure that the sanitary and Phytosanitary status of plants and plant products
\ncomply with the relevant minimum requirements. Knowledge of relevant
\nlegislation, international standards and agreements e.g. WTO-SPS, TBT and
\nIPPC. Good communication, problem-solving, interpersonal relations, conflict
\nhandling, planning and organising skills. Computer literacy in MS Office software.
\nA valid driver\u2019s licence and the ability to drive.<\/p>\n
DUTIES : Enforce the Acts, related legislation and international agreements to ensure that
\nthe sanitary and Phytosanitary status of plants and plant products comply with the
\nrelevant minimum requirements. This includes the independent planning and
\nconducting of inspections and auditing of assignees respectively, and inspections
\ninclude sampling, testing, surveys, investigations, detections and administrative
\ntasks relating to these functions. The incumbent may be required to conduct
\ninspection away from his\/her station as well as overnight away from his\/her
\nstation when necessary. Render service on short notice and after hours at or
\naway from his\/her station when necessary.<\/p>\n
